The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Ok, listen well: NO RIPOSTE!!!
I have read over and over again, but noone seems to get that some people (including myself) ARE NOT SEEING THE RIPOSTE SIGN. Hell, I'm about to make a bloddy vid with it now. I have the skill. Up to the 2/2 level. I have the vanilla install of the witcher 2. In the tutorial it worked But it doesn't work anymore in the actual game. If anyone has a fix, let me know.
I DO have two slots of stamina. I AM holding the block button. I AM waiting to see the enemy attack. I AM waiting to see the little sword icon on the BODY OF THE APPONENT. But it NEVER APPEARS. It's literally driving me insane. The combat isn't as bad as I thought in the beginning. I see where the devs wanted to go. But man, there are so many dumb things they must have ben blind to see. (typical, butcher grading his own meat. I believe that they were so proud, this didn't realize, that Geralt is a stone block when blocking. Can't move. Targeting is at times very poor with multiple enemies. But not as bad as some say...... Sorry, this is a rant for another post, but with the way CDPR is marketing TW3, it might be the same thing all over again )

Mate I have no idea why this happens to you or other people, I've run Witcher 2 for 2 times, 1 on xbox 360 and 1 here on steam. That icon always showed up during my games :/

undertandable, but hopefully there is someone out there that found a fix. Unless, you can't parry most attacks in the game... :/

I'm sorry that I can't help you I haven't experienced it myself. But I can tell you game is perfectly playable without riposte. If I remeber correctly it is kinda handy in 2nd chapter. I believe other characters will be able to riposte if you learn it as Geralt, as I couldn't riposte as Seltkirk during my 2nd playthrough since I didn't learn the skill, while during my 1st one I could

Maybe it is because of difficulty settings. I may not show on harder settings, I'm not sure it has been awhile since I played on dark mode. I remember that the 1st witcher had these visual clues disabled if you played on harderst difficulty.

But probably this isn't the case.

If all else fails you could use the FCR2[redkit.cdprojektred.com] mod. Tons of tweaks and so forth, including blocking/parrying, a fairly major overhaul of the game mechanics. Not everyone is a fan, but I like it. Plus, it's made by one of the devs so I'd consider it fairly "canon".

My friend did what I couldn't. I still don't understand how. Just skip the tutorial. You're doing something wrong because there wasn't an update since I failed.

UMMMMMMM.... hehehe. I found out what was wrong. Totally my bad guys.
Appearantly, although you have to first put points into the training tree, you have to unlock the 'real riposte' in the swordmanship tree. Was on my part foolish for not looking further than my nose. But can't believe the devs made it so..... oh well. Riposte do work if you place points into the swordmanship tree. Guess that's the fix I was looking for...
Again, thanks guys. And my bad :)
Not sure about anyone else, but for me the answer was that when they say "press E just before an attack", what they actually mean is "press E *way before* the attack, especially if you want to riposte." Opposite of what I expect for skills like this.
