Witcher 1 to 2: Save file transfer?

Just finished my first playthrough of The Wticher 1 and it was quite the ordeal, and not in the worthy or not I can't say yet.
Anyhow I'm going to jump into the second game and I'm aware of the 'Save File Transfer' similar to how the Mass Effect Trilogy allowed you to carry over save files and some of your decisions would affect the story in big and small ways and I wanted to know how that works and would be grateful for assistance.

Just click New game in TW2, it will ask if you want to transfer a save. Could be a little confusing with the order of the saves, so I recommend moving all the saves except your last one from Saves folder, so that you can be sure all the decisions get transferred up to the last minutes.

On the same topic:
Is there a way to transfer my Witcher 1 save files without having to reinstal the game? They are all in the Steam Cloud but apparently I can't access them without the game actualy being installed.

With how easily it's set to be in the players way I was being overly cautious, thank for the timely reply.

Yeah...don't expect this to be Mass Effect. I'm raging at how very little my choice in w1 affect w2..and the same appears to be true for how w2 affects w3. I feel pretty darn cheated and plan to file an official butthurt report form.

The only choice that impact w3 in w2 is if you let letho de guletta live right ? Or there's more ?

I found out after transferring my saved game from W1 to W2, if you do the tutorial it bugs out and you dont get your things, atleast for me. So if you transfer your save, skip the tutorial

Also you get like 1% of your gold from your other save to W2, which is pretty neat.

The Withcer 1 >>>> The Witcher 2.
If you didn't like the first, you can give up on the franchise now or jump into the third one. Second is quite a step back. Third one is more appealing to the masses with the more modern sand box open world kinda thing.
