Congrats! I've yet to attempt this one although I have played a couple of times through on Dark. How does it compare?

Thank you friend :)
Insane difficulty - does not have the dark mode ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ factor of one hit kill so you can rest easy on sections like the eternal battle arrow section and the dragon fight

That's a relief, I may give it a go over Christmas when I have some time although I think I'll give the Operator a miss! Which path did you take?

hmm you know what you inspired me to write a guide for insane difficulty. Most of the guides I read often lean towards the speed run style and don't give the materials you need to craft items. I basically did all the quests in chapter 1 ( to get xp and the cash to buy the 7% sword dmg runes ) and then speed ran my way through chapter 2 (do little sisters quest to get the massive 600xp) and 3. For last 2 chapters you will get the best steel and silver sword right from the start and it takes very few cash and materials to craft them. You only have to craft the red robust meteroite silver sword in chapter 2 and then carem legendary steel sword in chapter 3 you can buy the best steel sword from the mysterious merchant which does higher dmg than the dun banner sword AND princess xenthia's sword. In chapter 3 grab the silver sword deithwen. It does 25% more dmg to gargoyles and the dragon. As for armour Kayran armour in chapter 1. For chapter 2 you'll get zireal armour for free and chapter 3 get the vran armour and elder blood set. The chapter 3 gear lets you dance in fire

oh and take roche's path
Juice Fresh Nov 16, 2017 @ 12:31pm
it's much easier, quicker AND you get zireal's armour for free.

Also yes the operator .... all that ... for just a dragon scale ....

Thanks, I'm usually a completionist so I'll have to stop myself getting distracted and taking on unnecessary fights - like the operator...

I'll let you know once I finshed the guide. I'll let you know here.

Also nice work on getting those achievements. I see you are a perfectionist too.

Thanks, just playing on Dark for a bit to get back into the rhythm of Witcher 2. I'm definitlely out of practice, been playing too much Witcher 3!

I just finished the game on the highest dfficulty as well. Had my doubts if I should even approach Operator since dying and having to start all over again would literally break my heart :D However I found an easy solution: I went Alchemy build (Bombs FTW!) and upgraded it to the point where I just threw a Stenchbomb + Zerrikanian Sun combo at the Gargoyles to 1 shot them with my Steel Sword. Also I had Quen casted to mitigate the damage from the fireballs, Vran armor, Caerme sword and Virga + White Raffard's Decoction for HP and Armor (after you research the Potion Talent the Decoction gives you 82% more HP!). Last but not least I used Falka's Blood on my sword for even more damage. The fight was over in less than 2 mins although I admit I had to reload it a couple of times because the gargoyles almost killed me :P
