Letho fight is absolute trash!

Idc how many times Ive played this, certain fights are just pure BS.. Might as well lay on the floor, and army crawl for the duration of this♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ This fight, and the Boss in the field in Act 2 are why I would never even attempt Insane difficulty... I see no way of doing it without cheating...His insta Aard, and ability to cast and slash 3 times faster than anything Geralt can do infuriates me to no end..

This fight is SO stupid. There's no limit to how many times he can cast quen. I just went through a fight where he cast quen 6 times in a row, with no opening in between. He walks through most of my Yrden traps, none of by attacks do any damage, andI don't know what people are talking about when they say you can get 3-4 hits in. I can get 2 lights in before he blocks.

The key to a short fight is Yrden (out of the box is sufficient). Letho has strong ranged attacks, so stay in melee. He owns the better Quen: So keep him from casting it.

There is no such thing as 'stay in melee' he just keeps spam his insta aard no matter what range you in, whether it other edge of the world or up deep in his arse. Also there is no such thing as 'Keep him from casting' too. He insta use quen as well, also you cant interrupt anything because most of the fights are scripted.

Geralt should be aggressive, not defensive. As soon as you get control after the cutscene, let Geralt cast Aard (Letho can't cast Quen!). Geralt rolls immediately to his side and casts Yrden. If Letho doesn't tumble into the trap reload.

There is no such thing as aggressive or defensive in this game too. Because there are no stances. You either fight, or escape. Since you cant escape from this fight, you have to fight and die everytime. Also if you cast him aard, its not interrupting his quen casting. Also he is getting near 0 stun from aard. Just half second of fall animation and thats that. Also you cant cast yrden that fast too, he would beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of you in the time you were rolling towards him even.

If Letho is caught by Yrden don't let him go anymore. Three or four hard hits, then cast Yrden again, trap him, repeat.

Wow, three or four hard hits? You better ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wish bro, because its not going to happen. In best case scenario you can hit him twice with fast attacks no matter what the ♥♥♥♥ you use. Again, you cant cast yrden that fast, you are dead again.

This is an old post of mine, but I remember being a pure sign build... Never did beat him.. I ended up using god mode after a week of trying.. Ive only ever beat him legit once, on my sword build, and not on Insane difficulty.. Which I thnk I was going for this time..

Yes, I agree this rfight was poorly made.. Similar to the dragon at the end.. the hit detrection feels off with the dragon pretty bad... But it can atleast be cheesed.. Letho 1 cannot..

Signs are useless, hell even swords are useless. Im just spamming daggers from a range. 'Epic Combat' to my ass. No way with that hit detection.

I love this game.. but those 2 fights really damaged the experience.. the Draug at the end of act 2 seems to have similar hit detection issues, but is only remotely difficult because of the inability to use potions, and the annoying lead up.. But yea.. Letho I cannot stand.. he isnt held to the same rules as Geralt, and thats a shame! Could have been epic!

Thats the thing, you cant dodge, his range is nothing like yours. Its not even hard. It just stat buffed scripted and definitely not fair sword fight. Cheap way to make a game hard. Or trying to at least. Like 'He is giving you twice more damage and has twice more health than you for no actual good reason, because you are playing on hard' Just dont make any sense to me. This boss fights are one of them. Its like dark mode's nekker warriors are easy's Letho boss fight. There is no difference.

I agree with Frostbite... I felt like I was being hit by phantom ranged attacks more often than not.. Not to mention his grenade/Aard spam was pretty ridiculous.. But yea.. The whirl attack was what gets me.. As I said, I went full Sign build, and Im betting most people have the upgraded dodge, which apparently is essential..

You cant keep your distance, he is spamming insta bombs and insta signs. As i said, it wasnt a difficult fight. Just stat buffed nonsense. Not 'epic' or anything, besides the fact it supposed to be a epic sword duel between witchers. Me myself just spammed dodge and daggers for example. 'Epic' to my ass. Btw, there is no 'battle preperation' in this game too. There is like 30-40 potions and oils. Only 3-4 of them are useful(which are cat, petris philter, swallow and tawny owl). And even they are doing nothing. At some point you have to roll on the ground like a crazed dumb with a sword while waiting for your hp bar regen. Which is also killing the experience.

I agree, except for the potions.. i found use for many of them.. Especially playing a Alchemy build...

Somtimes, he acts completely different, and doesnt spam Aard, Quen, and bombs.. But I was rarely so lucky.. Many of the guys who show videos usually stack damage multipliers like whetstones, and other buffs.. I always had the best available eqipment, and never do the damage that is done in these videos!

As for having an upgraded Sign build, youre at the mercy of vigor for casts, assuming you took them all.. Which not everyone would at this point, since you dont have many points at this pont in the game(I want to say 7 into another tree, aside from Training, presuming youve done all available side content).. And if I recall correctly, there are hundreds of search results from others having difficulty with this very fight.. This is one of my alltiome favorite games.. But Im not so blind as to not see bad design.. this fight is poorly designed!

I did mindlessly slash through my way with lots of space and r button spamming in both kayran and letho though. Also i dont understand how this fight is not poorly designed stat buffed nonsense too. But whatever i guess. As i said several times before, fight wasnt hard. It wasnt making any sense at all. Just that. Im also having hard time figuring out why people like this game so much. Only things that i dont see as a garbage about this game are Triss's and Ves's arses and soundtrack.

Obviously, this was posted several months ago, but I dont give up easily.. I enjoy difficult battles.. But call a spade, a spade.. Not because Im particulatly bad at a certain part of the game.. This is a flawed fight.. Its one of my alltime favorite games, but Im not afraid to admit its problems..

And he does cast Aard with no tell.. Its instant.. Ive only ever beaten Letho one time legit.. Having had this game since its 360 release... And even then, it felt like pure luck, and him not doing certain things that allowed me to progress.. And thats not good dsign..

I know the thread is old but came across it looking for help to defeat the boss. This is my third playthough on dark and I still get taken out a few times before figuring the best method. I used just some arbitrary steel sword, Ravens armor and no potions or buffs. For me this worked most reliably in the end:

1. Quick Aard on Letho immediately and get two heavies on him. Repeat two more times then evade.

2. Bring at least 10 (preferably 20) bombs. Throw these whenever his Qwen has worn off.

3. Don't bother with your own qwen rather focus on stumbling him with Aard, attacking then escaping before he retaliates. Use Qwen if you are set on fire.

4. Try to get Letho onto the doorway side with the exposed rock. Keep yourself on the square side of the room, it's easier to roll and dodge that side. This can be maintained if you use Aard to push him back.

5. Simply break his qwen with two Aard spells then on your third go heavy and whack him. Roll away and spam a few bombs.

This is a legit approach because Letho has the most cancerous ranged attacks since the invention of Stinger missiles. Give yourself space to evade. Keep the initiative.

This is stupid!
I've struggled a dozen times to defeat him, but every time he leaves the fight if his health drops below half.
In the YT video you see his health drop to zero and he still isn't defeated; he actually spares Geralt!
I think the fight is rigged. You can't defeat him, you can just "survive" until you bring him to below-half health.
