The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

HELP WITH CHAPTER 3 PLEASE [SPOILERS]
So I'm roleplaying a "revolutionary" geralt, which sympathizes with Iorveth's dream. I'm at chapter 3, killed all the nilfgaardian guards (some respawn), and all the doors are locked, even in the sewers... It seems my only option is helping those witches and mages that compressed Merigold into a figurine , but I clearly don't want to do that since I would enjoy a gameplay without helping nilfgaardians.

Is there something I'm missing? I'm avoiding going through walkthroughs so I don't get any spoiler. I just want to know if I do need to help those mages in order to get to Merigold (they're way too strong, I can't kill them. Keep getting stun locked).

???

For reasons of clarification:

Which are the main quests you have completed in chapter 3?
Which is your actual main quest?
I'll check it up, thanks for your reply. I'll edit this once I've found out.

EDIT: The quest is called "For a higher cause". It says I can either enter through the sewers or surrender myself to the guards in order to get arrested.

The other quest I was talking about (the one with the nilfgaardian wizards) is "The secrets of loc muinne".

Follow the questline. If completed and you want to meet Triss then continue with "Where is Triss". But it's a difficult decision, and now I can't avoid a spoiler:

If you help Triss then you can't save Saskia.

This is no main quest. You can miss it if you don't want to help the mages. Your choice. I wouldn't do it because it's an interesting side quest, but if you don't like Nilfgaardian mages you have no choice ....

Well, since it's interesting, and I don't think I'll replay the second game, I may try it then. Missing cool questlines is worst than steering away from your roleplay.

That's the problem. The sewer gates are locked, and I have no clue to where I should find those keys... I checked the whole map (at least I think), and the only places I haven't entered are the ones with locked doors. If you think that revealing to me how to open the gate is too much of a spoiler, I thank you for your consideration, and I'll look harder into it when I have the time. But if it's just some "hey go to spot X" situation, then I'll be happy if you help me. I'm avoiding looking into walkthroughs because the story is pretty damn cool and I don't want accidental spoilers.

I don't know where your Geralt is in this moment, but here's a description what you should do after defeating the Gargoyles at the beginning of chapter 3:

Originally posted by IGN:
Start in the direction where you saw the guards, but quickly advance through a room to the right. As you head in that direction, you'll face some bounty hunters. Defeat them, then head up a sloped ramp to the upper level of the area. Run along it and you'll find some harpies. Kill them, then descend to the left and at the base of that slope, take a sharp right toward a wall. You'll find and must defeat two guards without being weakened too much (or else you risk being arrested). Once you defeat them, continue forward to what is essentially a four-way intersection. To the right you'll see people seated at tables, while straight ahead there's a corridor and along that corridor's left side a door. Open that door and you'll find yourself in the sewers.

Don't read the guide, but I have to specify the source:

Did you find this door? Is it closed?

Btw:: I edited my post above. Did you see it?

The story after "At the Crossroads" in chapter 1 is very different if you follow Roche's path. And when reaching the end of chapter III you will be familiar wiht the controls, the NPCs, Geralt's friends ... perhaps you will be curious - or not. Whatever: Enjoy.
Already beaten it. I'm enjoying the third one much more!
