Is there a way to keep him alive in the dungeon? Every time I try he ends up buring down the dungeon and killing himself.

I have tried both rescuing him while being torchered and when he tries to fight the guards when they are removing him from the cell, both seem to lead to the same end result.

Its seems possible, but i think you need to do something earlier on to get it to happen.
