Fix for low FPS on all graphics settings?
Running the game on Windows 10 at 1920x1080 with a 7700k, 16GB RAM, RX580 8GB graphics. It was a new PC build about 3 months ago - new SSD so did a fresh install at that time.

Any pointers are appreciated, but I understand this game is very poorly optimized.

I'm thinking it's because the Radeon and there's nothing I can do about it. I get about 25 FPS on all graphics settings (Low - Ultra) with uber sampling off across each. Lowered the res to 1280x720 did give me a 5 FPS gain which got me to 30 FPS in some places. Here's what I've tried so far:

  • Run everything as admin (toggled admin on steam to try that too)
  • Turned off AA
  • Turned on AF in Radeon Settings
  • Reset the game settings in Radeon Settings
  • Ran the Witcher 2 Tweaker from nexusmods - upped the texture memory budget a couple times up to 2048.
  • Made the User.ini read only after making changes (yes the one in Users\me\Documents etc.)
  • Turned off Windows Defender services (not likely the culprit, but found while searching)
  • Installed the game in GOG Galaxy

EDIT: This is now fixed. My specific problem in Windows was either a bug with Crimson Relive 17.7.2 or just a bug installing it on my PC. Here's how I fixed it:

There were many reboots in this process but at the end everything worked fine and am getting the 100+FPS on high settings.

In Start go to Choose a power plan and set it to High performance. Maybe that might help.

This didn't have any effect either. I actually ended up setting up dual booting Ubuntu on a second hard drive, and after installing the AMD drivers (and upping the Texture Memory Budget to 2048 in the User.ini) I'm getting 100+ FPS on high settings.

I opened a support ticket on GOG for the issues on Windows, but they just keep telling me to try things I already said I tried when I opened the ticket.

I'm sorry, I happen to have similar problem too. Every settings from low to ultra is just the same, full of stuttering. It's not lagging/slowing per se, in some points I have nice FPS. But certainly when you move around the area, go to city, or rotating camera (even with motion blur turned off), these stutters always came to me.

I play on the recent ROG Strix Notebook, Asus GL553VD with specs:

Core i7-7700HQ
NVidia Geforce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5
8GB RAM
Running on Windows 10 Home 64-bit, res. 1280x720

I've searched about the stutter fix like from this:
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Witcher_2:_Assassins_of_Kings#Continued_Stuttering_During_Gameplay
or this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/13path/witcher_2_stuttering_fix/

which overall making me to set the framerate limit (or something) to 1 or 2, and limiting the FPS to 60Hz. But in practice it didn't turn out giving me any siginificant difference.

So for anyone in the know, may I ask how to optimize this game for my specs?
