it's not my screenshot, but shows the problem. In prologue loading earlier save helped me, but now it doesn't help. How to fix it?

Try turning off Bloom and/or Light shafts in the graphics options.

It's a bug and it is saved in your save file. Solution is going back to an older save, that didn't have it yet, or starting a new game.

Before doing it, verify your game files and reset graphics settings, just in case.

I said that I tried loading an older save, but it didn't help. If I have to start new game everytime it appears, I won't ever finish this game. Turning off bloom helps a little, but not really much. I verified game files, found 1 corrupt file, nothing changed.

I wrote an email to CD PROJECT RED. Their answer isn't really helpfull. They said "Please try to change brightness and gamma in your settings". So even CD PROJECT RED doesn't know how to fix it...

Hey, was a solution to this problem ever found? I have just started Witcher 2 and have the exact same issue in the prolog as well. Changing brightness and gamma don't really help.

In the video with Flotsam I think its supposed to be that bright at times. It was that way for me in the almost three times of playing W2. Just lots of bright sunshine and shaft effects and very bright skies peering through the huge forrest. For the OP though and that picture, yeah that looks like there's an issue. I tried looking around and some said a reinstall and restart help but you've already mentioned you've tried that. Maybe try Samael's idea and see if a sweetfx setting reduces it.

I think the bright sky behind the trees in Ch. 1 Flotsam is correct as the setting is in a dark forest.

For the Prologue, as Dusk of Oolacile suggested above, reloading an older save fixed it, which is really strange. I am just saving every 5 minutes (like TW1 as it tended to crash frequently) just in case the problem crops up again.

I had this happen again to me in Ch. 1, and reloading old saves did not fix it this time. This problem seems to eventually happen when I raise the Brightness setting, as I find Ch.1 overall too dark.

But I found by editing C:\Users\[User]\Documents\Witcher 2\Config\User.ini and deleting the Brightness setting in the [Graphics] section did fix the problem. Or you could delete the User.ini file itself if you don't mind resetting all settings back to their default.

Works, thanks!
