Can I run Witcher 2 with these specs?
Hi guys just wanna know how well I could run Witcher 2 with these specs, thanks!

Intel Dual Core i5-3210M CPU @ 2.5GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
8GB RAM

EDIT: I have now played The Witcher 2 for a few hours (non-steam version) running it ok at 1024x768, still a fair amount of frame rate dips in heavy areas, like ones with multiple NPC's or forest areas (affects conversations too in places) but thankfully it hasn't negatively affected combat so much it puts you at a disadvantage, so it's still playable.
Have also tried it on 800x600 (with Text Downscaling set to Low so it doesn't look awful) and frame rates are definitely improved, only problem with it is the text gets pixellated, and on my 1366x768 resolution screen, it makes it hard to read.

Great game so far though not gunna lie

Run - yes, play - I doubt it.

It's weird I ran Resident Evil 6 pretty well and that had pretty similar specs

No, there are very few laptop GPU's that can run Witcher 2 at normal FPS. 630M is not one of them

Actually I think you can run Witcher 2 on low settings... same as I - my specs of Lenovo G50-30:

Intel Celeron N2840 2x2.16 GHz;
nVidia 820M 1 GB;
RAM 4 GB;
Windows 10;

You have better CPU than I (2.5 GHz, up to 3.1 with Turbo Boost) and all that is left to do is to check your GPU. Mine:

Core Speed * 775 MHz
Shader Speed * 1550 MHz
Memory Speed * 1800 MHz
Memory Bus Width 64 Bit
Memory Type DDR3

Yours:

Core Speed * 672 MHz
Shader Speed * 1344 MHz
Memory Speed * 1800 MHz
Memory Bus Width 128 Bit
Memory Type DDR3

- as you can see you have better bus width then I and that's tough.

Again, I'm running Witcher 2 almost on low settings, I guess that you can as well. If you are not sure then wait for some sale and buy Witcher 2 for a cheaper price.

Again about your GPU - I only don't know the amount of your GPU's memory :/

EDIT: And yeah, you have more RAM.

I've got 6075MB graphics memory, how does that compare with yours?

  • i7 3630QM @ 2.40Ghz
  • Nvidia GT 650M
  • 8GB RAM
Everything pretty similar to your system.

Can run it just fine at 768p with mid to low settings - 99% FPS over 30.

30 is unplayable for most people, so is 768p

And he wanted to know what he could do with his system - I doubt he is used to high resolution with constant 60 FPS.

That doesnt seem right, 6075MB vram is found on desktop graphics cards only, and pricey ones at that (750€ +)

Here's what it says on the NVIDIA Control Panel

Total available graphics memory: 6075MB
Memory bandwidth: 28.8GB/s
Dedicated Video Memory: 2048MB DDR3
Shared System Memory: 4027MB

I see, this : Dedicated Video Memory: 2048MB DDR3, is your vram

Ah my bad, i'm still when it comes to PC gaming haha
Jeroen Apr 13, 2017 @ 7:50am
you have DDR3 memory, which is an old form of memory (was stopped being used maybe 4 or 5 years ago). But if you play on the resolution you said earlier (768p), it should be ok
