The shortest of the series. 28 hours on my first and only playthrough. I dwelved in side quests but not many (though I feel like there isn't much in general. Maybe I did do a lot. Who knows.)

Probably like 30 hours depending on how much you die. However you can play this game twice with totally different main quests, so you might want to do that.

If you are going to play the first one too I would suggest playing that first. Witcher 2 starts where Witcher 1 left off
As stated, it's the shortest one in the series. First playthrough, levaing no stones unturned and completing literally every single side quest, you're looking at maybe 40 hours.

However, becasue the way the game is designed, it is impossible to see all of it in one play through. You will make a certain decision fairly early in the game that locks about 45% of the game away... and the only way to see it is to replay and make a different choice to see the 45% you missed.

It practically 2 different games depending on the choice you make near the end of Chapter 1.

my first playthrou was 30 hours, but if you'r like me you will do second one with diferent choices...
Also if you are looking for a W3 backstory I highly recomand the books, I know you are not a book person, I am not as well, but I liked the books so much... they have like 300-350 pages and there are five of them, I was done with all five within a weak... First 2 games are mostly about geralt geting his memory back...
