How important it is it to import a Witcher 1 save in to Witcher 2?
I played the original Witcher years ago when it first came out on my old gaming laptop. so I no longer have my old game saves. so how important is it to import the game saves? I really don’t feel like playing the first game all over as I hardly have time to play any games these days.

Importing a save is nice, but it's not that important. My imported save gave me the Aerondight as a starting silver sword which isn't that great in Witcher 2 (it just saves you from having to craft a silver sword early on in Chapter 1). IIRC it may also give you slightly better armor. These perks are nice to have early on in the game, but the truth is you can find or craft superior equipment very early in the game. I'd say jump straight into Witcher 2 and enjoy.

I downloaded a save from Nexus when I started because I also lost my TW1 save. I can't say I noticed too much of a difference. I had a silver sword already like he mentioned but that was about it. I would recommend downloading the auto loot and 0 weight junk mods though. It saved me hours of pointless repetitive gameplay and annoying item management.

Personally I would recommend to import a TW1-save. Sure, it's not necessary, but you have a good armor, a good silversword (moonblade) and a reasonable steelsword, all with three slots (!!!). The steelsword should be replaced soon in chapter 1, but the moonblade with three fire runes (crafted in Flotsam) is quite good.

Concerning the steelsword: You'll find 4 runes in Geralt's inventory from the very beginning; with three of them applied to the steelsword Geralt will be fine in the prologue.

If you are interested in a TW1-savegame: Here's mine:

1. Adda will be mentioned if she's alive or not. This is mentioned in a few places
2. Shawnee (one of the main love interests of W1) is mentioned in one in-game book if you romanced her
3. If Taller died in Witcher 2, you won't have an interaction with 1 NPC
4. In chapter 3, Sigfried appears if he was still alive at the end of Witcher 1
5. Importing a W1 save with end game gear will give you some money, the Witcher end game armour from W1, one of the endgame steel swords and one of 3 endgame silver swords

That's about it if I'm not mistaken.

I'm quite pissed that I worked hard in The Witcher 1 to help the elves and dwarves, but the saved file in The Witcher 2 says I stood with the Flaming Rose Order.
