By chance, were you able to get this rectified?
That's one tough thing about being an indie dev on steam -- you spend like $4,000 just on different headsets alone to test everything, and STILL there's the chance something might not work for someone.
No worries my friend! Definitely the right call. It might be worthwhile to make sure steamVR is up to date, that’s usually the issue when the game starts up in desktop mode. If you buy the game again in the future and still run into this issue, please don’t hesitate to reach out
not sure why you're trying to run it via virtual desktop? it uses OpenXR, but depending on your headset you will still need to use SteamVR. Are you remoting wirelessly to a quest? Either way, we definitely have tested it on several rigs and various setups, we've not been able to reproduce this issue without physically disconnecting the headset, so I suspect something is preventing the SteamVR API from communicating with it?
I am running it via the Oculus USB-C link cable. Tried wirelessly, tried via Virtual Desktop (I am just trying all avenues). Every other game including the other 2MD football games work as I have them all and I run via steam. It's just this one for some reason doesn't engage the headset. I'll be trying things this weekend.
Found the fix. It seems this 2MD game isn't using SteamVR automatically for it's OpenXR runtime. I use the HTC Vive ,Steam, and Oculus app as well so any other game (including the other 2MD games) pick the correct platform automatically. I normally run other games on steam and they automatically open within the headset except this 2MD game, so here's a fix for Oculus Quest 2 users:
1.) Open SteamVR manually and make sure your Oculus Quest is connected. Someone mentioned this could show up as "Rift" so go in the settings and make sure its the Quest 2
2.) Once your headset is connected, go to the settings again, and go to the developer section. You will see a section for "Current OpenXR Runtime". Make SteamVR the default one. Oculus and some other apps might prompt in their apps to do the same so change as needed.
3.) Reset SteamVR and verify that the settings work and then run 2MD: Unleashed. Your headset should automatically open it...but you will also see it within the Oculus Link and can start it from there.

Notes for Truant Pixel: I appreciate the mention of OpenXR as this made me think if the game might have just seen my headset as a monitor or something but it seems the OpenXR is the issue. It's just odd other games work normally haha. Just an FYI, I have taken screenshots while in VR of the issue. When we choose to run the game, it just sits stating that 2MD Unleashed is "up next" in the Steam VR grid but the game pops up on the desktop and runs there, just not in the headset ever. After making the changes, it works now so hope this helps some of you!
