Split Screen Multiplayer
Why do developers assume that PC players don't have any friends in real life? One of the best things about the console versions of COD is the ability to take a friend online and play multiplayer in split screen.

Why do they refuse to develop this feature for the PC version? We should have the ability to play extinction mode and competitive MP in split screen considering PC's are more powerful than consoles...

-_-

I agree, but there doesn't seem to be enough demand for it from the PC community.

It can't be that hard... just a few lines of code, right? Split screen is a staple of the COD series on consoles, and COD makes more than enough $... yet the PC community can't receive some split screen functionality? It's BS...

IW won't bother, they're getting ♥♥♥♥ tons of money without putting any effort into porting the game so they won't change their stance on that now.

Simple: One mouse and one keyboard. And if playing with a controller is your thing, play on a console. Split screen isn't really the PC space, its more living room type space

So let me get this straight... you think someone that plays on a PC should be forced to use a keyboard + mouse combo and also be limited to a monitor? LOL. Whatever. You are clearly not the type of person this thread was directed towards. Moving on.

Actually it is. As a long time PC gamer, there were VERY few games ever created that had local machine coop. And I do play some games with a controller (fighters mainly because kb controls are horrendous) but coop on a PC has ALWAYS been LAN games or over the internet. Besides asking for a few lines of code?? Means they have more work to do and more QA to do to make sure 2 people with controllers can play on one tiny screen (or 2 monitors but that means you have to run 2 games at once to make that possible)

TL;DR version: Its not going to happen because the processing power to make that a reality would be a fruitless endeavour
While Steam's Big Picture and the Steam Machines etc. is definitely a gimmick, but I'd certainly love split-screens on almost all PC games that could "possibly" have it.

I'm pretty sure COD is currently the highest grossing annual franchise. It would cost them peanut shells to impliment a split screen feature.

But can you afford to purchase the bestial machine that would be required to run a split screen local game??

2x GTX680's in SLI
32GB DDR3 RAM
i7 3770k processor

Yes, Yes I can.

Actually you'll need more than that. Think of it as doubled minimum requirements so that the game can render both sides of the game well and keep track of everything for 2 separate viewpoints. You "beast" machine will be rendered obsolete in a month anyways. I can tell you so many reasons why its not beneficial to do split screen on computers until I'm blue in the face but you're stubborn and bull headed and can't see why it will never take place on PC's.

You either have no clue what you're talking about -or- you're just looking for a fight. You could just turn the graphics settings down when playing in split screen if needed. There are other graphically impressive PC games that have online or offline split screen functions. I don't know why you are so hellbent on defending IW.

Gebus Khris Nov 4, 2013 @ 10:33am
I'm not defending IW at all. I'm just saying split screen isn't a demanded feature (very few demand it) for PC's and lowering graphics isn't going to put less strain on a CPU. You are just wanting something that really isn't built into PC games. You want split screen, sit next to your friend on the couch in front of your TV, not infront of your ~22+" computer monitor or 2
