Game Not Launching

So I have noticed several people on here having issues with their game just flat out not launching at all with no errors given. It pops up a screen that says "Preparing to launch" and then nothing. I have tried doing all of the fixes that I could find, including re-installing the redistributables, updating graphics drivers, etc etc. PC specs are not an issue. Has anyone found a definitive fix for this yet?

Not yet i've been searching like crazy. I did everything they say to do on the internet and no results.. i guess we just have to wait till they patch something

Hi, I am one of the people that has suggested some of the fixes.
I'm now out of ideas,as to what fixes have worked for some but not for others.
It is a nightmare.This game has so many issues to be fixed.
As Ninzo says will have to wait for a patch.
I feel really sorry that people have bought this and can not get it to work.
I have played both multi and campaign and could be a good game with issues fixed.

Edit- this could be the problem.
Can both of you please check that you have the folder players2 for call of duty ghosts.
You need this as it contains the configs for sp and mp if its missing that is why it won't launch.
Try a verify cache to see if it will download.

I was in fact missing the "players2" folder. So I created the folder and downloaded a config_mp.cfg and made a config.cfg file inside the folder as suggested by another post that I had seen, but no such luck. It still will not load.

my game wont load either click play game shows me in game for a couple of seconds then nothing?!i have windows 7 64bit i7 930 processor, ati radeonHD 5870 card, 12gb of ram, 2tb hardrive updateing all my drivers an yet nothing.

You ahve to use the latest Nvidia drivers 331.64 and also force the Nvidia card via the nvidia control panel

It seems sufficient to say that since everyone is not having this issue, that there has to be something on our PCs that is preventing the game from launching, be it some type of application, a piece of hardware or some kind of settings somewhere. I am currently attempting a local content purge and downloading it again for the second time except I am trying a separate HDD this time to see if it makes any kind of difference.

Alright guys, good news!! After downloading and installing the game again (single player only first) I started getting the whole "Call of Duty: Ghosts has stopped working" message. After a little bit of tinkering and monitoring open processes, I figured out that, low and behold, Steam itself was causing the game not to launch.

Evidentally the Steam overlay conflicts with the game. So in order to fix this, I went in and disabled the "in-game" community through the Steam settings and through the game itself on Steam and sure enough the game fired right up!

I am downloading multiplayer right now and hopefully the same fix applies.

Downloading the config cgf file does not help.
The sp config is the one that sets the graphic card and is downloaded when you install the game. If you open it with note pad and scroll to the bottom you will see it lists what GPU is being used.

I have tried this game on a Brand new PC .. No programs installed,with only windows 7 installed with all latest drivers , and stil does not boot up .. all I get is " UNKNOWN ERROR" ... 8(

Does it mean this game will run on 64bit OS only? No chance on 32bit WIN7 version?

It will only run on windows 7 64 bit or windows 8 64 bit.

Download the sp player only. Then launch to test it.
