Game won't launch - PLEASE HELP
Hi,

I've just purchased CoD Ghosts for the PC which I have installed in full using the 4x discs provided. The shortcuts have been created on my desktop and I can see that the game has linked to my Steam account (username = 0cuchulainn0).

However the game won't load up. I have all the correct hardware spec and I ran the previous Black Ops 2 game no problem. DirectX 11 is installed and I've also run through the 4x suggested installers on the Steam help:

Run the following installers:
◾...\Steamapps\common\Call of Duty: Ghosts\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe
◾...\Steamapps\common\Call of Duty: Ghosts\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012\vcredist_x64.exe
◾...\Steamapps\common\Call of Duty: Ghosts\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012\vcredist_x86.exe
◾...\Steamapps\common\Call of Duty: Ghosts\_CommonRedist\DotNet\4.0\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe

I have rebooted since running the above and still it won't load. When I clock on either the single player or multiplayer shortcuts, I get the 'User Account Control' box popping up asking 'Do I want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer'?

If I click 'Yes' - I get nothing.
If I click 'No' - I still get nothing.

It seems as though everything is installed correctly but the game just won't link with Steam to allow the game to load?

Hopefully that all makes a bit of sense and you might be able to help?

Much appreciated,
C

ps - my pc spec is as follows:

- Windows 7 64-bit
- Intel Core i7-2700K @ 3.5 Ghz
- 16GB RAM
- AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series graphics card

Please check in the Ghost directory that you have a folder named "players2".
If this is missing that is the problem.

Thank you for your reply !

Sorry - I am not at all tech savvy.

By 'Ghost directory' do you mean the game installation folder on my C: drive?
AneeeNews Dec 21, 2013 @ 3:28am
Yes. It will be in there.

Ok, so this folder ('players2') wasn't in the Steam folder in the following location:

C/ProgramFiles/Steam

I tried creating the folder in this location but this didn't fix the issue.

Any ideas?

It has to be in the Ghost directory.Look in this 1.
Go C/program files(x86)/steam>steamapps>common>Ghost.

It wasn't in the directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Ghosts\

... so I created the folder in there. Now reads:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Ghosts\players2

.. but it still doesn't work.

I've rebooted since creating the folder and still nothing.

That folder is created when you install the game,it contains the config files for the game.
This has happened to other people. For some reason it does not create the folder.
Remove the game by using the add/remove in the control panel and then re install it and check that the players2 folder is created.

The 'User Account Control' should pop up when you start to install not when you click the shortcuts.

Just removed it and re-installed it and it still hasn't created the 'players2' folder ....so still not working !

Is there anything I can do post-installation to ensure it creates this folder?

the player 2 folder is 1.95mb in size and should have in it:

not sure if it is user protected but if someone could upload the contents and share for OP that might save having to download 32gb again

I don't suppose you want to email me a copy of your files so I could try copying them over?

Like you said they might be user protected though !
MrDJ Dec 21, 2013 @ 5:26am
thing is if i do that and they are user protected they could flag up on the steam system and block my game as well as a hack.
you could try the IW support on live chat and ask them.

Ah ya, fair point. Sorry, I woudn't want to risk your own game after you've been such a big help to me.

Thanks for that, I'll give them a go and see if they can help !

The only person that I know that got it to work installing the right way was by doing the single player first.Got that to launch by disabling the steam in-game community. Then installed the mp.

The players 2 folder is set to the persons computer,as it sets the GPU.

You should be able to right click, properties, local files- verify integrity. I believe thats right anyway without looking at it.
