Is extinction safe at all?
Is it safe to host a private game with a friend to play extinction or would I still be susceptible to rce attacks? I could give a ♥♥♥♥ less if someone can grab my ip or just crash my game, but its the rce that worries me the most.

I don't think people are prowling around COD: Ghosts to hack people's computers.

If you're worried about that kind of threat, you obviously don't have Webroot SecureAnywhere. International IT consultation firms use it to protect their corporate infrastructures, and thanks to them, I haven't had a virus or an intrusion in over twelve years. Used to be free AV or bargain AV protection was enough, but when viruses corrupting keyboard commands began spreading like wildfire, I had to spend more money. I chose them because, at the time other protection packages would either damage their own code or even fail to recognize the threats, and hence be unable to repair the damage, and I began getting real-time protection, preventing infections and intrusions, rather than cleaning up the mess afterwards.

I have no vested interest in plugging that product, but I've been gaming since 1978 and working with computers since 1984, before the internet was born. Their software doesn't interfere with my games, and never identifies a legitimate game file as a threat. You are using the wrong protection if you're worried about getting hacked while gaming.

Safest bet is to play using IW6X which was technically C & D by Activision, but it's still out there if you know where to look.

If you're unfamiliar, that was the community project that removed all the known exploits and vulnerabilities, as well as added support for things like server browser and mods. But they had links to piracy on their website, which is why they were taken down.

Before you recommend that, are these legit downloads for the software? Else you’re prolly just downloading malware imo

Wouldn't trust them. There is a strong correlation between pirated digital material and the proliferation of cyber threats.

Around twenty years ago, before I got smart, I'd downloaded a few games that I shouldn't have, and my machine got infected, once so badly that it bricked my machine. I stopped because of that, plus the longer I kept doing it, the more likely a felony conviction became possible. I personally knew a guy who got twenty years for pirating and selling applications, videos, games, and music. He was selling copyrighted material on a scale that still boggles my mind. Idiot.

Spend the money to buy legitimately. It's worth it.

Its not a virus but rather a breach in the server. I am not sure if Activision has patched this and am currently looking for an answer. Is Call of Duty Ghost safe to play? If I hosted a private lobby for my bros and I, am I safe from the breach (If it's not already patched?)
