I will be proper gutted if it doesn't. It's too much hassle upgrading at the moment.
So i'm hoping it does run directx 9
Just thought its worth sharing since I run XP and have been looking around for info on this. Almost all the sites that used to list Win XP as minimum requirements for this game have changed it to DX 10 Vista. So its most likely not going to run on DX 9.0c Win XP :(
Oh well, I guess I will wait till I get a new rig and maybe go for the GOTY edition which inevitably will come :)
I wish there was a way to know 100%
inb4 all the "dude, XP is like 12 years old, no one uses it anymore blah blah blah".
I'm fully aware of this. I'm also aware that XP is also still fully supported and updated by MS, so please don't tell me to OMG upgrade my OS. I will do next year.
A simple yay or nay of someone has tried running the game on XP and got it working would be very much appreciated.
Maybe. I still run XP because its FAST and very STABLE. Also it still has a HUGE share of the market. XP still has more users than Mac OSX+Vista+Win8 COMBINED!!! And I'm guessing the large Win7 adoption is the result of BURNED users ditching Vista (and being scared to change AGAIN after the Vista debacle) plus it being pre-installed on new PC's. I really dont understand why they threw away so much market share (and sales) since this is using the SAME Batman AC engine. This game is SO SIMILAR to AC that it could have been a DLC. (And at this point with all the bugs AC is still the better game).
I'm guessing theres a backroom deal with MS to use this game to get people to upgrade. I'm sure AO will sell some OS's but its puzzling that they would leave so much cash on the table. I'll be using my trusty XP for a lil while longer since Win8 turns me off. I dont need my OS dumbed down but I get that eventually we'll just be installing/running Apps and the OS will vanish in the background.

Its more because windows xp is a dead platform that can't do as much as windows 7/8 can.
The game isn't using the same engine, its using a revised version of it that is much more stable and built around directx 10 and 11. Bugs or not this game is more stable than AC.
Microsoft is discontinuing support for Windows Xp in april and encourages people to upgrade because the new version of windows are better.
The problem with Windows XP is that its old but still used, so when people write software they have to cut corners just to get certain things to work in Windows XP that can be done with ease with newer versions of .net or unmanaged C++. Batman uses Directx 11 because it offers a hell of a lot more visually than directx 7-9.
