New Game Plus
Whats the use of a new game plus when you don't get any of the gadget unlocked or towers unlocked until you progress through the story mode, AGAIN???.

You keep the data packs too. It even tells you that when you complete the game.
Yes, but with out *particularly* the shock gloves, you have to play through almost 75 % of the game to unlock most of the riddler's box things. That really sucks, cus you'd assume that you'd have all the upgrades to unlock gain all remaining riddler trophies

That's why i was smart enough (no offense intended) to collect all datapacks in normal mode before moving on to NG+.

I should have done the same thing [if I had known]

They should fix this and include ALL the gadgets. It defeats the purpose of NG+ to remove anything. They didn't do this in AC, why now?

Some of the indoor levels are designed in a way that on your first pass through you can't have a specific gadget that would allow you to take a shortcut and skip necessary scenes. Pretty sure that's why.

You don't lose all of them..thankfully. Just the ones that are tied in to the story

You also start new game plus with all the advanced combat stuff like Disarm and Destroy etc

But you lose the shock gloves which is quite mandatory to collecting most of the riddler boxes

I personally think with or without the complete set of gadgets from the beginning, the New Game Plus serves its purpose with early appearance with enemies that have weapons and also the infiltration missions with more enemies in armor.

Next time you start you're game up, go to Continue. Then when it asks for you to select which mode pick Continue Story instead of choosing Continue New Game+.
You'll pick up right where you left off after you finished the story the first time, with all your gadgets so you can still run around and grab the Enigma datapacks. When you're done, exit like normal then go back to New Game+

They only remove the gadgets you unlock after boss fights, because otherwise it wouldn't fit in with the story. But they did leave a way for you to still get everything you need to using those gadgets if you've already gotten them once.

Damnit. This is exactly what I came to ask about.
Not having the shock gloves and glue grenade for the beginning of New Game Plus does seem pretty stupid. Really. I completely agree it defeats the purpose.

I still enjoy the game though so whatevs. But it is really dumb.

You can still go back to your normal playthrough at any time I believe and get them there as well.
I was going to do NG+ to get them, but haven't gotten a single one thanks to the stupid design decision of taking away the unlocked locations and advanced gadgets needed for them.
I am finding it hard to grind through the normal game, especially since all the indoor locations are empty of goons, so literally the only thing to do is run through for the riddler stuff, then run back.
Coupled with the maze-like level design that has no place in gaming due to it's silly complexity and lack of flow to the maps, getting those things with nothing else to do in these places is just horrible.

Actually, in AC when you started New Game + you didn't have neither the freezing grenade nor the remote electrical charge. You had to unlock them just like you did in the first playthru; it's a game design choice since with those tools you unlock path and places you're not meant to discover earlier

Yes you do, here is a screenshot to prove it:

That is proven to be right at the start of the game, because it is saving catwoman from twoface, which is the very first thing you do after suiting up.
I just started playing AC NG+ again, after playing through the disappointing story mode of arkham origins.
While I have enjoyed origins, I encounter at least 5 different bugs multiple times every time I play, just within an hour or so, and it just isn't as polished, well made or fun as the other two.

In arkham city, you started with all your gadgetsin New Game + mode. That made getting all the riddlers trophy's easier. Its not just the New Game + mode. Most of the gadgets are unlocked by doing some stupid challenges, that can only be unlocked one at a time. If you're not attentive to unlocking them, you'd probably play up to 'I am the Knight' without unlocking most of the gadgets (in Arkham Origins)

To get even just the x5 combo multiplayer, you have to upgrade about 11 times first. Its just silly. Arkham City avoided things like that by not making you re-obtain gadgets you've gotten from Arkham Asylum

I completed all 3 Dark Knight Systems in my New Game, didnt even bother with riddler ♥♥♥♥, or anarchy signs or plaques. Just story mode and quick side missions to unlock waytech upgrades. and then finished everything in I Am The Knight. Now for the painful challenges.
