Install from DVD problems
Hi there, I brought the game on PC winch has 3 DVDs to install. The first time I tried it installed the first disc then wanted to download the rest but don't have anywhere near that amount of data.
So the second time around I followed this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382 and it got through the second disc and didn't install the 3rd and wanted to download it again.
Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke I reinstalled windows and got to where it asked for the 3rd disc and again fails and wants to install the rest off the net.
Did this one more time (im very patient) and it happened again, wont install from the disc

Any ideas around this issue, its been all day and cant get it to work :(

I meet all the system requirements
Help!

The DVDs don't contain the full game data. You still need to download the rest from Steam. So nothing's wrong with your system. Just let it download.

Can't you just activate the license on Steam and download the whole thing?

I wont get a chance to download the rest of it so its a waste.

The first DVD has 7.61 of game data on it
The 2nd DVD has 7.61 of game data on it
The 3rd DVD has 5.79 of game data on it

do they really expect you to download it when you are given the full game on DVD?

Plus as I said earlier the first time I tried to install it used the 1 DVD, then the second time it got through the 2nd DVD then fails when i try the 3rd.

First post says I dont have enough data to download it..

WHy do people always need to reintall windows is beyond me. Windoww is an operating system salef contained and unless its gone bonkers, you don't need to reinstall an OS. Waste of time, resources. All you need to do is close the application and try again. When installing steam games from dvd like sa Rage which is over 20 GB and still faster than a download, just turn off internet or go to network and sharing center and disable a wired network adapter this way, you don't need to unplug anything and after install, re-enable the adapter, close-open steam and game verify cache and it will connect and download all approproate files from steam. It's so easy. Less son for today, you don't need to re-install an operating system because its a self-contained and protected environment and unless you get BSOD, or some serious problems, leave it alone. This is why you do periodic system updates because MS is protecting its OS from all types of attacks and improves stability with new code.

Anyone have any helpful input that does not involve downloading and has had this problem with other games?

Steam wants to connect to the internet to begin the install.

He likely does have broadband but a lot of ISP's impose a download cap of which he doesn't have enough spare to download a 3rd of a game that should install from the disc he was sold.

As for a solution I dont think there is one. Seen others with this issue and they just eneded up having to download the rest of the game.

My guess Is that he Is tethering from a phone, My phone has a limit of *I think* 500mb a month and thats why I never use It, If he Isn't, what the hell Is he doing getting a connection with data limits and/or throttling, It Is one of the worst types of business practice an ISP can conduct.

To the last two replies, thank you for the constructive input.
I will take it back for a refund. The product does not do as advertised, install and work.
It seem simple to me that if you buy a game with install media, it should work - I'm not playing for a digital download.

"Other Requirements:Broadband Internet connection

For activation only.

Goodluck with that, most retail stores I know that sell PC game discs won't take the game back, you would of had a shot If the seals weren't broken.

I don't think you'll have much luck with a refund. Most places wont take a PC game back once opened. Especially since you used the code. Otherwise as far as they are concerned you could take it back, get a refund then go home and download it for free.

I had the same issue, Wargame Red Dragon, installs 2gb, downloads 14gb, bloody ridiculous. I hate steam. (sometimes)
