What are the electric boxes things?

I see them all over the walls and have no idea what to do with them. They look like they are supposed to be shot at with the electric gun from Arkham City but I guess there is none? I have one gadget slot left and Alfred just called me about some glue granade.

The electric boxes are orange in detective mode so I guess they have a purpose but I tried every gadget and move on them and nothing works. What's up with them?

If there are electricity flashes in the vicinity, you can fly the remote Batarang through those (which charges it) and then steer it into the box, short-circuiting it.

I'm not talking about the remote batarang inbued with electricity. I'm talking about like a fuse boxes around Gotham and the predator sequences. If you can use Shock Gloves from Electrocutioneer than I guess MadMax665 is right.

If you're looking for a substitue for Remote Electric Charge in AC, yes, you need Shock gloves and unfortunately you won't be getting it until you've played more than half of the game whereas Remote Electric Charge was availabe early in AC. But then you won't be needing the gloves until you get them. If you need them for collecting some other stuffs, there's no other way than revisiting the places you've been to. FYI you don't get to keep the gadgets in AO New Plus Mode.
