How do you unlock Worst Nightmare Rank 7 "Head-On?"

I've used beatdowns without any gadgets, normal attacks after disabling thier guns, I've done two guys on rooftops, the entirety of the Final Offer deck, and the guys in front of the steel mill. Despite them all giving predator ranks, none of it worked, and rank 7 remains locked. I've seen people talking about getting to rank 14 so it's gotta be possible, but I can't figure it out.

Anyone seen a video they can link or who've done it themselves and can give me a hand? I'd much appreciate it.

It has to be during a story related predator encounter. Challenges, and armed guys on rooftops don't count. And yeah, even though it ranks your predator skills, Worst Nightmare challenge doesn't recognise that. It's pretty stupid.

You can still get the rest during new game plus and then all of your tries of I Am The Night mode. I only got the last challenge during the final predator mission of my IATN runthrough

Are we 100% sure that it has to be in a story predator room? I was able to get Rank 5 (complete a predator encounter without using detective vision) by taking out the armed thugs outside the Sionis building after completing the story.

I'm not 100% sure, but I've tried a bunch of times to do them with enemies around gotham and during the predator challenges, and haven't had one unlock for me

I have started NG+ to try to make some progress on Worst Nightmare since I'm pretty sure there's nowhere to do Rank 6 after completing the story.

I did manage to do Ranks 4 and 5 after completing the story and here's how:

Rank 4 - Use a Sonic batarang to lure an enemy into a takedown.
In the Industrial District at Sionis Steel Mill, the building you can actually go into, there are 4 armed thugs wandering around. I grappled up to a vantage point, tossed a Sonic Batarang into the corner of the courtyard, then glided down behind the thug and did a silent take down. Grapple back to the vantage point, wait for Sonic Batarang to recharge, and repeat with a different corner.

Rank 5 - Complete a Predator Encounter without using Detective Vision.
Immediately after completing Rank 4, I left the area until I got the XP popup. Then I went right back and there was only one guard left. I dropped behind him, did a silent takedown and got credit.

There are a few other areas in the after-game where there are a bunch of armed guards. The deck of the FInal Offer and GCPD Roof are two I can think of offhand. These seem to count as "Predator Encounters" but unfortunately they don't have the right props to complete some of the other Ranks.

Hmm, I got the one for doing like 5 different takedowns in the church. I also got the one for completing a predator challenge without using detective mode when I did that double takedown on the two cops on the helipad after the GCPD mission.

Just had a thought though. I completed the whole ladder system in one playthrough on hard, and it seemed to me like every mission/side mission that unlocked as I progressed was designed to enable me to pick off each ladder achievement in sequence. So maybe that's the reason why some non-story missions won't give you achievements while some will. They were designed with specific missions in mind.

I had the same problem - I'm on the NG+ and I tried getting Rank 7 on the GCPD rooftop as suggested by this guide (11:40):

The free roam option there doesn't work for me. I also tried getting it "by luck" as suggested by the same video (see 13:20) on the ship by taking out the sniper on the tallest platform but it didn't work either.

What worked for me was this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/209000/discussions/0/648811126524202130/

The guy did it apparently twice and it worked for him and so it did for me. You can complete this challenge by eliminating (without any take downs) every armed guard in front of the Steel Mill just before the 1st encounter with the Joker. After that, you have to immediately go north of the Steel Mill on the rooftop just West of the closest GCR tower - there are 5 unarmed guards that you also need to eliminate in combat (the author of the link above suggests there are 4 guards but that's incorrect).

This option is not a 100% free roam because once you take out the guards in front of the Steel Mill, they do not reappear (not that I know of) and so if you progressed in the story in any given mode you would have to do the same in the next mode. It is similar to a classic predator encounter but it takes place outside and you also strangely need to take out guards on another rooftop for it to work. I still think it's a good way of doing this challenge without wasting a "proper" predator room that you could use to complete the propane tank or rank 15 challenge etc.
