Beating Deadshot
Welp. I played that level about 10 times already and it's getting really anoying. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I have no idea what.
My tactics:
1. Neutralize all thugs in a room.
2. Spam stun + multiple punches on Deadshot + ground strike when he falls down until next wave of thugs comes, then 1 until Deadshot have 1/4 HP and go after hostage.
And here's the problem.
Once or twice he grabs the hostage and starts to aim his sides. I cleared the room in a very silent way and when I aproach Deadshot, there's no context actions appear. I can't even just stun or punch him. The other time I thought it would be good idea to set explosive gel near the hostage before the Hostage in Danger phase but exploding gel did no damage to him and he just killed the hostage. Same situation with controled batarang throw.
The other 8/10 times Deadshot just runs to hostage and - bang - hostage's dead, level failed. Even if I stay at gargoile out of his sight.
That's really frustrating.

Sneak up on him and grab him from behind as you would a normal thug. it worked for me but maybe it can be a bit inconsistant? Just make sure you wait for the prompt to appear and don't push the button too early.

^ did the same. after doing a silent takedown on him, the other thugs just despawned.

Really easy. At 1st keep sneaking up behind him and initiate the silent takedown but then kockout smash. Grapple hook away and noone's the wiser.

Phase 2 when he's on the ground floor just wait till he's alone to do a floor grate takedown and then a window takedown.

Phase 3 w/ the hostage just sneak up behind him using the floor grate then give him the ol' silent takedown followed by the knockout smash.

Thanks for this. I was doing the same as OP but beat it on the first try with this method. Thanks.

ive tried this ugly badly done boss about 20 times now,and its like the game itself is cheating,as soon as i only have one thug left, more comes along,so the only way to even beat him is to in the end just go directly for him...
and THEN he takes the hostage.and then its almost game over, since its almost impossible to get to him,and the "silent takedown" doesnt even appear.
im so frustrated and angry at this time consuming boss.
i have better things to do in my life than wasting 20 minutes on every try.
i give this boss 1/10.

I just beat the crap out of him with beatdown over and over. When thugs get close I just smoke bomb and continue. When he goes to hostage you just sneak behind him and take him down then it ends the encounter.

WHat I did was I beat the first set of thugs and then cape stunned him and did a beatdown until he went for the hostage. I did it three times in a row in a corner far away from the door the thugs come from.

The benefit to this is I skipped a wave of thugs, there are three, and only got the second wave so I didn't have to deal with the jammer.

I slowly took out each one then dropped quietly behind him and did a silent takedown.

Beating him is easy. You have to knockout him like normal thug, but instead of one time you will have to do it few (like Harley in HQR). You can even do some with Remote Batclaw I believe.
cassiels Oct 31, 2013 @ 10:47am
I hung up the thugs on the vantage points with the remote claw. Took a few out with gel on the breakable panels and a few from the grates. I returned to the vantage points, cut down the ones that were hanging there. Capestunned and beatdown Deadshot over and over until he had only 4 lifebars left. Second wave of thugs: strung them up again. When there was one thug left, Deadshot took the hostage. Last thug I glidekicked and knocked out. Then I went to Deadshot - he turns 90 degrees every time - when his back was toward me I got the prompt for silent takedown. That finished him.

1. Avoid getting caught by moving between vantage points. Silently take out all the thugs using silent takedown or remote claw skills.
2. Stun and beat down until he goes to take a hostage and brings in another wave of thugs.
3. It's even easier to take out the thugs this time because you won't have to avoid getting caught by Deadshot.
4. Wait on a nearest vantage point.
Drop down when his back is turned. Silent takedown. Then you can beat him on your first try in a simple way. This mission is similar to Two Face mission in Arkham City, but unlike Two Face, Deadshot doesn't keep bringing in more thugs to his aid. That means he's 100% vulnerable to your stun and beat down once the first wave of thugs are taken care of.

OP's here. I have to say, I completed the game on last week and tactics posted by @LegitBeastin works perfectly fine. I didn't even knock out a single thug but Deadshot himself. I even thought I would get an achievement for that but I didn't.
Mayhem Effect Oct 31, 2013 @ 9:26pm
when people take hostages you can separate them with a baterang to make for a safer approach. at least it works that way with thugs.

You could also attack through a smoke bomb but i'm not recommending that in deadshot's case.
