Roger Craig Smith's voice acting
Ok so I've read a lot of reviews and comments on forums about Smith's Batman voice. Apparently, many find it disappointing but I couldn't disagree any more.

Does anyone agree? I think he absolutely nailed it. In his low, barotone voice moments he sounds like Kevin Conroy but during his louder moments he channels a little bit of Christian Bale into the performance too.

A lot of the time, I almost couldn't tell Smith's voice apart from Conroy. It was basically what it was supposed to sound like - a younger Batman.

I don't know, maybe I'm high off my horse but his voice acting was one part of the game that genuinely had me impressed, even more so than Troy Baker's Joker.

I feel like I'm playing Chris Redfield disguised as Batman. any second I'm expecting WEESSSSSSSKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR or CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I think part of the reason some people weren't too impressed was that unlike the first two games, Batman for the first half of the story essentially repeats the same line in a variety of ways (WHERE'S BLACK MASK or I HAVE TO FIND/DO X) or just threatens people and that can make a difference. It isn't until around the bit where Joker hijacks the story that he seems to, you know, actually talk and give a performance.

Now, I liked Smith's Batman when he actually talked to other characters (like Gordon, Joker, Alfred and even Nigma). However, while the voice is similar to Conroy's, it doesn't sound as natural as Conroy's does. I can tell he's faking it and it ruins the believability of it transforming into what we hear in AA and AC naturally. I don't get that with Troy Baker's Joker. His voice is perfect and I can believe it growing into what we hear in the older games.

And the reason why is because Batmans voice is very close to Conroys natural voice. You should watch some interviews with Conroy and you will hear it. Its why his sounds so natural.

I KNOW that. You're missing the point. AO Batman's voice does not sound like it's natural. That's it just his normal voice wit ha bit of an edge to it. I can tell he's faking it. I've heard other actors fake gruff or growly voices and make them sound as if it was their natural voice. Smith just doesn't do that.

Do note I'm not in any way complaining about his voice or performance in the game. I'm just saying that I can't really see the AO Batman's voice developing into AA/AC Batman's voice.
I saw that. it was awesome. i dont ever really watch animated stuff but i was glued to the darkness of that and batman just had enough

i havent heard him upset but i believe you. and yeah i was thinking about how this was batman in his earlier days it was cool to see him get bent out of shape and just totally almost beat the joker to death. i thought that scene was a amazing the little kids didnt get it haha everyone complained. but it showed restraint even when the easiest option is right in front of him.

Have you watched The Dark Knight Returns 1 and 2? Peter Weller does Batman (brownie points if you know what his major role was before this).

Lets just say he finally hits his limits with the joker. Watch and you will be amazed at how dark Frank Miller can be.
atleast the difference between the two voices ain't as big as in splinter cell when they changed Ironside for Johnson which was annoying.

I am actually agreeing with you.

So yea....

Yea he did. Was good.

If you liked that then you should also watch the Flash Point Paradox. That was also really dark and good.

Same goes for Hamill vs. Baker. I've heard Hamill in a few other works beside his Joker and he sounded, sad to say, pretty much like Joker in most of them (Darksiders is a perfect example).
That just reminded me of X2 Wolverine's Revenge, in which, for anyone who doesn't know, Mark Hamill voiced Wolverine. It was kinda funny, a Jokery sounding Logan XD
Yeah forsure good point

Plus he got younger too.

it would have been better if Mr Johnson was playing another agent in splinter cell universe instead of being Mr. Fisher.
Arkham Origins has by far the best voice acting of any game in the series.

I think Arkham City did. Conroy and Hamill nailed their parts and the VA they got for the others were very good as well.

I wouldn't say the best. But it is pretty good.

TBH i didn't find any differences between Smith's and Conroy's. Also, the bunch of bugs this game has distracted me from paying attention to the voice acting xD

Seriously, I find the VA of both Smith and Baker very pleasant.

Not one thread can go by without someone harping on the bugs or something, which had nothing to do with the topic... :/
