Why can't we unlock dark night challenges in challenge mode?
I am specifically talking about the "worst nightmare" and "shadow vigilante" challenge trees, for some reason they are only obtainable in story or NG+ which if you (like me) already completed then you are screwed when it comes to the challenges unless you want to start from scratch, just seems like a really stupid design flaw with the game, for now the only workaround I can think of is doing them on "I am the Night" mode, but isn't "I am the night" hard enough already?

I just think that you should be able to do the dark knight challenges in challenge mode...

Just seems like a really silly design flaw that was overlooked anyone else feel the same way?

that's why you've shouldnt have rushed the game. i recently noticed this too you had to get them in story mode. but i've just started my new game plus, after finishing all most wanted and collectables.

Ehh just seems kind of silly to me, I did do all collectibles before starting new game plus and I intended to do the challenges in new game+ but I misread a few of the challenges and did them incorrectly, and after I screwed it up the game autosaved so I can't go back now, oh well I guess Ill just have to try to do it in I am the night mode, assuming all collectibles etc. carry over like in new game+, just seems kind of silly to me, and apparently lots of people agree according to forums from other sites, but IDK just think the devs should consider adding the ability to complete them in challenge mode

The real problem is that the game does not do a good job at indicating what may result in being seen. You can do takedowns and be seen from halfway across the room. Do a silent takedown and people will be alerted to your position immediately.

The longer you wait the harder this task becomes.

Also I didn't find enough predator rooms to make all the challenges in one game... a very important design flaw.

I did complete the shadow vigilante and world's greatest detective challenges in one game. But you can't even get some of the worst nightmare challenges in new game +, as it's impossible to perform a silent or "unseen" takedown on armored enemies. And it's not that people rush through the game, people just like to play the story through and don't assume that it will be impossible to complete the challenges later on. Not to mention that once you finish the main story, no crimes in progress appear near the bridge. So try extra hard to finish the fifteenth gotham protector challenge in new game+...

I have the same problem, I left the Dark knight challenges so that i would have something to do after the story and now i cannot complete them. WB should fix this.

It's stupid that we can't, and was a bad decision on WBM's part.
Early on after release, there were comments that they were supposedly going to fix it so that they were completable in challenge mode, but that's never materialized. For me, that'as the one big disappointment with this game, but it doesn't diminish my overall enjoyment of it.

It's pretty clear at this point that isn't going to happen. sucks, but what can we do?

I sucked it up and did it in I Am the Night mode. I made the same mistake by not caring my first two play throughs. Quit crying and just complete it if you want the completion. Takes some time, but is still obtainable.

You know you can restart IATN mode to keep using the same predator rooms, right? Tedious, yes, but not impossible.

It's interesting that so many people put this horrible design decision on the player, saying things like "you shouldn't have rushed the game" and "suck it up." There are many proposed solutions to this problem, including having more than 1 predator room in the game that challenge 6 is possible on, respawning enemies when you return to certain areas, allowing them to be completed on challenge maps, or just not having predator challenges that can't be completed in free roam. Considering that every other challenge can be completed in free roam, it's frankly laughable that some of the Dark Knight challenges can't be.

Sandwichboy81, the other 3 challenge tracks can be completed in freeroam because they consist of either combat, tactical, or gadget utilization. Worst Nightmare is a predator track, many tasks of which can be doubled up on and some of which can be completed in freeroam. But it is a predator track, so that does imply the necessity of predator rooms.

Until I wrote my guide, I went through all this too. After completing all 4 Dark Knight tracks I actually started to appreciate how this system differed from the previous two games. In Origins you can't simply purchase certain upgrades from accrued XP; you have to unlock them through in-game challenges. You're starting out as a rookie Batman, so you can't take for granted what's already been done in the previous games. You're starting from scratch, so this game is the one where you really have to earn your wings.

Where I will agree with you is the limited availability of predator task repetition. The way I play now, I can complete WN Ranks 01-05 before reaching the Final Offer Theatre predator room (yes, that's in my guide), so now I'm stuck waiting until Gotham Merchants Bank unlocks much later in the game to complete WN 06. The ship's Theatre would be the perfect location but it lacks three task opportunities: a wall vent, a reverse takedown vantage point, and a weak explodable wall. MrJAG found missing files referring to a deleted mission inside Trident Labs, probably where you could battle Electrocutioner earlier to obtain the Shock Gloves, which would have made completing both WN Ranks 14-15 possible in the Royal Hotel Grand Lobby.

If they ever reissue or remaster the game at some point in the future, I would like to see the following changes: 1. Choosing or switching any skin from the main menu instead of strictly from the Batcave; 2. Change any redeemable rewards to unlockable such as the 1 Million skin, so the player isn't at the mercy of expiring infrastructures; 3. Introduction of a proper backup system like that in Arkham Knight to allow new players the ability to backwind existing progress to before entering specific scenarios such as WN 06; 4. Possibly the addition of that missing Trident Labs side mission, which would ultimately allow completing the Worst Nightmare and Dark Knight system far earlier in the game. Other than that, even with all of its now-managable eccentricities I have to admit that from a gritty earthy narrative standpoint, this is actually my favorite of the four Arkham Games. This is the one I replay the most.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the Dark Knight system, it's only the limited availability of predator rooms that can be used to complete them that I have a problem with. Possible solutions include allowing them to be completed in challenge mode, having respawning predator encounters in the city with the required takedown options, or even just having more predator rooms in story mode that even allow all the required takedown types. It's also worth noting that batman doesn't just improve by being in the field, but he trains to improve as well.

No worries, I wasn't taking a stand, just clarifying. Similar gameplay elements were also present in Arkham City. You could do Riddler's Physical Challenges for Batman and Catwoman during your in-game playthrough, but not in the challenge maps. I agree on limited predator availability.
