Enigma's portrayal was flawed and a huge disappointment
I've always praised arkham asylum and, to a lesser extent, arkham city for integrating collect-a-thons in such a way that it felt organic instead of tacked on.

Although I liked Arkham Origins for its story, I feel that the most disappointing thing is everything related to Enigma.

What usually drives Enigma (and the Riddler) is to prove that he's smarter than Batman, and I felt that this time around the whole thing felt "gamey" and contrived. Here are a few arguments to prove my point.

Most of the towers consisted in decripting a computer and needed almost no thinking from the player. And each and every time Enigma reacted by saying: "How did you... it's impossible!".
I felt that there was a huge gap between what the game was supposed to make me achieve and what I was actually achieving... which made me feel Enigma's astonishment was out of place.
Compare this to Arkham City's Shell Game chamber... In THAT case his surprise was more than justified and I felt good about figuring out how to outsmart him.

On to the trophies/packs: although in Arkham City the riddler's challenges were implausible from a story stadpoint (come one, how did he place all these pressure plates, etc) they were at least rather satisfying to beat and collect.
In Origins, my feeling is that their presence is just some form of gaming atavism (just because we had tropies in the previous one they had to put them in). I think that I perceive them as such because of how unimaginative they are. I'm sure 90% (random stats ahoy) of them were:
- throw sticky grenades at steaming pipes.
- hack a console
- blow up a wall
- throw three batarangs in a row.
- fly a remote batarang through a vent.

Maybe I find them dull because I already did all of this in City, but I think that If I were to go back to that game I would still think they were better thought out.

And... maybe it's because he isn't the Riddler yet (admittedly I've yet to collect all the trophies, although I'm almost done... this means I don't know what happens in the end yet...), but the voice actor just sounds bored out of his mind.

All in all, I think Enigma was the biggest disappointment in this game.

I still liked Origins and if I were to reduce my opinion to a numeric value, I'd give it an 8/10.

What's your opinion on this?

Same for me.

Enigma was the weakest part of the game. The reason he'll say "How could you- It's impossible!" is because the dialogue is based on how many towers you've done so if you leave the easiest for last he'll say it was harder (Not that any of them were actually hard anyway).

The pay-off for the collectibles was also terrible.

I miss the ones that required fancy glide moves to get into. I got all the data packs and don't remember if I ever had to do that. What was the point of the flight training if I didn't need it to get into any tough situations?

Side note, I glided my way into the Amusement Mile tower before I had the glue grenade and despote making it in there the door was locked. When I got the glue grenade it was unlocked for no reason other than they didn't want me entering before I had the glue grenade.

Another thing that bugged me about this one was how somehow Batman already knows who all of Enigma's data handlers are...? And where they're located? Overall there was just too much information given away on the map in this game with no explanation of how Batman knows about it.

idk but the enigma tower in burnley took forever to figure out how to get past the vent. Mr. nashton did a good job on making that puzzle

lol really though I love the computer hacker story they went with the riddler. He use to be my most hated DC villian but now hes more interesting in the arkhamverse

Yeah I actually feel kind of bad for the guy. Some of that intel he gathered probably would have been better off had it actually been released. No wonder he hates Batman so much.

the pay off was a nice nod to the other games but severely underwelming from a narrative point of view.
