Beating "I am the Night" without save scumming?
I'm not sure i'd be able to do it legit. Perhaps just back up past the tutorial(blackgate and the first comms tower) so i don't have to repeat that tedious intro.

Anyone else admit to save scumming?

I just got "I am the night" achievement today.

If you pause the game there is an option labeled "restart". This restarts you at the last checkpoint the game saved in a safe position. Got caught clearing a predator room and know you won't escape before dying? Reset.

I hit the reset button four times while playing "I am the night" mode - once for both Bane fights (I can never dodge the "BaneTrain" properly) and on a couple of predator rooms I goofed. I was amazed they left this option in the mode, considering how convenient it was to abuse.

So yeah, I guess I admit to save scumming.

My first death was due to a mistake i made just outside the Final Offer. I thought i could get away and didn't hit restart.

There is that part where you grapple onto Firefly and if you fail the counter it's an instant death. I died there a few time on NG+ cause i hadn't played in a couple weeks and forgot i had to press the counter button. I can imagine the frustration playing all the way there on "I am the Night" and then loosing all that progress.

I remembered that from new game plus, so it didn't trick me. All you have to do at the end of the Firefly fight is mash the counter button like a madman, and the game lets you pass. It is WAY more forgiving then the Deathstroke fight for example.

Unless there is video evidence to prove otherwise, you can assme everyone that has the archivement restarted from checkpoints when they were about to lose, or made copies of their savegame.

I'm assuming there is someone somewhere who could do it, but I admit to save scumming. A little.

I still refuse to admit that the glitchiest parts of the game are "legit" in their own right, so I don't mind "cheating" the system a little because of those. The three worst fights by far are Deathstroke, Bane on the Rooftop, and Bane's fight in what looks like a library in the Hotel. There were just times that my controls seemed to start failing constantly, whereas no other parts of the game behaved the same way.

With that being said, and even taking into account the arguably ridiculous one-fail insta-kill in the Firefly fight, I still had to save scum more than I care to admit. I restarted the IATN run-through about 4 times before I finally got to near the end of the game (still having control issues in those boss fights) and then freakin' died on a rooftop when 4 guys started shooting me. Stupid mistake. I reverted back to a previous save and continued until I got to the end and got the IATN achievement.

So, about 6 times in this last attempt I had to revert a save to keep going, but only because I had finally had enough of IATN and couldn't take it anymore.

Strangely enough, I just restarted a HARD playthrough on my 3rd save slot. And I found out that I can exit out and Restart from Checkpoint when I get to the Killer Croc fight and he stops flickering and capestuns actually work. Then, Lo and Behold! in the Deathstroke fight I was actually able to beat him in one try, in a match where finally there were no glitches whatsoever: no counter fails, grapple worked when it was supposed to, and he rarely threw any unblockable attacks (one time, I think).

I'm also finding Hard mode to be easier for some reason, and the Challenges are unlocking right and left now. Makes it a lot easier to get all those higher combo requirements for some of the Challenges when you've got about 30 goons to fight.
