Grapnel Accelerator Takedown

I've been trying to get the Gotham Protector rank 4, which requires a Grapnel Accelerator Takedown. It says it can only be done outside because of the distance needed to engage the accelerator, but the bad guys never seem to get close enough to the ledge for the takedown to work. I've got all the upgrades. When I see a guy get close to the railing or edge, I hit "F" to engage the grapnel, then hit spacebar twice to engage the accelerator, holding spacebar and supposedly that should start the grapnel accelerator takedown.

Can someone who has achieved this maneuver give me some tips? I'd like to finish this Gotham Protector status.

OK, I finally got this. The trick is not holding down spacebar the second time, but rather holding it down the third. So, engage the grapnel, hit spacebar twice to engage the accelerator, and then as you're approaching the bad guy, hit spacebar a THIRD time and hold it down. Now that I've done it, I can do it reliably.

I'll leave this thread in case anyone else has this problem.

No third hit is necessary. You just gotta get them close to the ledge. I recommend doing a ledge takedown on someone to draw the rest to the ledge.

Just do it to a sniper.

You just had to do it on the Sniper on the Last Offer, no need to hit space bar more than twice, if Batman recognizes an enemy above he will perform the takedown, so you must be grappling right in front of the thug.

Yep, sniper. Easy as pie. And everyone loves pie. Just get one either leaning over the edge or about to, or just did, and he'll go down and you'll automatically get the challenge completed.
