Arkham Orgins Won't Launch
Hello! I've had this issue since I've bought the game. I've tried to launch it everyday upon getting any free time. I've reinstalled the game well over a dozen times. I've checked the integrity of the game cache, as well as compared my systems specs with what's required to play the game, and everything checks out. I have the ability to select which version of the game to play, either online or solo, and I cannot play either. When I launch the single player game mode some an install window appears then attempts to launch. According to my task manager the process is taking up 57k in memory so it indicates the game is trying to launch, but crashes. Whenever I attempt to launch the online version I receive an error indicating many of the files in the folder cannot be found by the .exe. If anyone has any solutions or can provide any help it would be very much appreciated! Thank you for your time!

Sorry to hear you're having problems. We need more information to try to help you here. Exactly what is the "install window" you're talking about? .Net Installer? The Visual C redistributable?
What is the process name? It's quite possible that the launcher is stuck waiting for another process to complete. You can possibly use the "Process Explorer" tool to find out which, and then kill it, which should allow the launcher/installer to continue.

But before you do that, try:
Upgrade OS and all drivers fully
Disable any unnecesary programs from startup
reboot
Close any other open programs.

The process is called "BatmanOrigins.exe*32", I am currently running on a 64-bit system. Would that have any interference? I've updated the OS, and drivers completely, as well as closed every unnecessary program running. Is the "Process Explorer" tool preinstalled with Windows because I don't seem to have it located in my admin. tools.

No, the program is 32-bit, but it runs fine in 32- or 64-bit Windows environments, so that's not an issue. Very few games (I don't know any right off hand) run in native 64-bit mode. The vast majority of them are 32-bit versions and they are allowed to run in 64-bit environments, but they are not 64-bit versions a lot of times. I'm sure there are some, but there can't be very many, I don't think.

Process Explorer is a separate download. Just google it.

Alright so I have Process Explorer downloaded and installed what should would you recommend I do?

Did you have to download the entire game each time? Most of these newer games have to be installed from certain proprietary files that have to be downloaded and run in one step. They won't let you just go and reinstall them at a whim. I haven't tried reinstalling BAO so I don't know if this is the case with it or not. Just trying to get clearer picture of what we're dealing with here.

If you haven't tried downloading the game again, from scratch, I suggest doing so. Get rid of anything BAO related you can find. There's usually a directory for saved games, configuration files, as well as the game files. I can't check my home PC from work to see which directories BAO uses, so I don't know the paths right off hand.

If you've done all that already, then it must be something system related. You never posted any system specs, OS, so I'm just guessing blind here. Have you updated Windows' files through Windows Help lately? Have you tried manually installing the usual culprits? MS VC Redistributables, DX, PhysX? They're all located under an installation directory in your Batman subdirectory.

how about,
going to your steam folder
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Origins\SinglePlayer\BMGame\Config
delete BmEngine.ini
and then launch the game.

I had this problem once, and then once I did that, it solved.
NOTE: there are multiple reports that people have to delete this file EVERYTIME they want to play this game

give it a go, and let us know afterwards

I've deleted the file on several download attempts, and the game still fails to launch! Thanks for the idea though!

aww crap
I dont think I have anymore suggestion

well.. other than trying to launch the game from multiplayer then go to single from there (save file error). I dont think this would help, but maybe give it a shot (wont hurt right)
Movingforward Dec 23, 2013 @ 12:35am
After trying that as well, it seems that it doesn't want to launch still.
Astori Heichalot Dec 23, 2013 @ 1:07am
:f2_sad:

it seemd that you tried everything already gg

last one,
how about putting -d3d9 as set launch option (this is turning off dx11 features completely)

if this doesnt work too, then I have bad news for you :f2_sad:

your card is kinda low, but that shouldnt prevent you to load the game atleast
