I AM THE NIGHT Permadeath?

I've spent the past 7 hours playing I AM THE NIGHT mode. I died during a quick time event with Firefly, and then it said game over. It took me to the menu but when I went to restart the entire thing, it told me I was on a checkpoint so I went right back tot he Firefly fight.
Does anyone know if this is how I AM THE NIGHT actually works or if I just encountered a glitch? Because I kinda feel like I cheated and don't deserve to finish the game. I'd like to hope that it wasn't a glitch, because then I won't feel like I really did it and I'll have to start all over again.
Hopefully someone can help :)

I encountered the same checkpoint restart during my first IATN Firefly battle.

To my current knowledge, this is the only respawn available in IATN mode. Just go with it.

Thanks man, I guess I'll just go with it. My only other option is to make a new save then go through Normal mode, NG+ and then when I'm done with that go through all of I AM THE NIGHT mdoe again. Too many hours for me :P

Thanks for the tip man :D But I already finished it :/ My issue was actually that it didn't punish me severely, I'm a big dark souls fan so if a game threatens me with perma-death then I feel insulted when it doesn't follow through :P

I'm currently trying to complete the Worst Nightmare ranks in I Am the Night and it has to be the most meticulous thing to overcome. I've four left to do and I figure, if I can get through this rank system, all I have to worry about is beating the game mode instead, if not at the same time with the rank system.

I bit worried about I AM THE NIGHT because I was careless fight with Bane in NG+ I died 2 time...and almost died in Firefly fight 1 red bar left :D

These modes after normal are trash. Can they be beaten, of course, but the time and effort isn't worth it since the devs couldn't even fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera well enough to make it worth it. Can't count the number of times I have died due to a camera stuck in a wall. Fix that and i'll spend the time to attempt harder modes. Instead, they abandoned this game like it had roaches and even tossed the multiplayer in the dumpster after 3 years.
