Tried:
1. Turning off the Windows Firewall
2. Reinstalling the game
3. Uninstalling the x360 accessories driver and re-installing
4. Plugging the wireless receiver into different USB ports, inside and outside the game
5. Re-pairing the controller and receiver inside and outside the game
6. Unplugging all other gaming devices before starting the game
7. Unplugging my mouse & keyboard after launching the game
8. Disabling the drivers from other gaming devices
9. Closing all non-Windows icons from the system tray
Any other suggestions apart from Windows 7 reinstall?
The reason mine didn't work all of a sudden (it didn't work in Arkham Knight either), was because of my new mouse, which has a Virtual XInput device driver for the throttle stick, which I could see in the Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices.
As soon as I disabled this device, the X360 controller started working again.
Apparently this problem also happens with Bioshock Infinite.
