Cold Cold Heart = Heart of Ice.
I had my suspicions when I heard about the DLC, and as I play through it's proving to be true.

The story is based off the Batman the Animated Series Episode "Heart of Ice."

It's a great episode but still, as the story unfolds to me it's all but confirmed.

Well it is supposed to be Batman's first encounter with Mr. Freeze in the Arkham universe, so yeah, it basically is Heart of Ice, but the Arkham Origins version of it.

It was already confirmed months ago that it's based on that episode.

isn't there a side mission in batman AC called Heart of Ice ?

I remember that episode quite fondly, and yeah, it's pretty much a carbon copy, but hey that's no bad thing. Quite well done. I've had no glitches at all so far too, and I've played it through to completion. A different state of affairs from my first playthrough of the main game.
REALLY looking forward to Arkham Knight now. Love new material.

I guess I didn't read every article out there.

Except that Heart of Ice explored the backstory of Freeze ten times better and was way, way more emotional than what you got served here. Really, for a Freeze centered DLC there was way too little Freeze and way too much Penguin. And giving you the backstory of Freeze in a monochrome crime scene reconstruction? What were they thinking?

Also, the Ferris Boyle character was as flat and without reasonable motivation as you can paint a second row villain.

Yep. That's the one when you have to find Nora for Freeze.

Yeah, story has so much of failed potential. Harley Quinn's Revenge was at least original content, Cold, Cold Heart is a butchered version of TV show episode.

Just because Cold, Cold Heart is based on previous material doesn't make it bad. It's miles ahead of Harley Quinn's Revenge IMO.

At least Harley's motivation was obvious and in character for her since she was a fleshed out character in the main game already. And Batman blaming himself for Joker's death was a nice touch too. The Robin parts were obviously slightly tagged on to offer something unique gameplay wise.

Here the main villain's motivation is shallow at best, and how he came to be is barely touched on, much less his relationship to his wife. And don't get me started on gameplay. There was nothing unique and new about any of this DLC. I think Harley's Revenge offered the far superior experience and felt much more integrated into the world than Cold, Cold Heart did.

Nothing unique and new in Cold, Cold Heart? How about the new suit, gadgets, enemy and several ice-related mechanics?
There were literally no new gameplay features in Harley Quinn's Revenge.

Robin was the new gameplay feature, hands down.

The new suit is cosmetics. There are no new gadgets. Heat replaces electricity, same function combat wise though, otherwise nonsensical since Batman broke Freeze ice with his explosive gel in any other installment of the franchise and never touched the XE suit again.

If you count a red glowing baterang as a new gadget, then there's one. There's one new enemy, yes. In Harley Quinn's revenge there were at least three completely new enemy types. And ice-related mechanics... makes me think of "a rose by any other name". If you think about it for a moment, they are not new mechanics. They are the same mechanics (opening vents, wall takedown, using enemy abilities to neutralize other enemies) just with a different look to them. Plus, you get the ice mechanics so sparely. The Freeze grenade in AC was much more innovative than anything here.

So, aside from the suit, I stand by my statement. There's nothing new in Cold, Cold Heart. Just re-hash with a different color.

^^ I'd say the boss fight is new. I don't remember having any boss fights requiring that strategy.

Actually that's a very obvious re-hash of the boss fight against Freeze in AC, though here you can employ the same tactic over and over again to bring him down instead of coming up with something new after every takedown.

All in all the fight in AC was more challenging and fun.

Robin was not a new gameplay feature: he had already been in the challenge maps. They simply implemented him into Harely Quinn's Revenge.
The "red glowing Batarangs" can smash ice, so I'd say they are pretty new. And what new enemy types were there in Harley Quinn's Revenge? They were just the same enemies from the main game but reskinned.

Did you play Arkham City?
