How Do I Quick-Fire Explosive Gel?

I'm using an Xbox360 gamepad and the in-game control menu says to use left trigger + X but the explosive gel icon lights up and nothing happens.

It is LT + X. You're doing something wrong....

I haven't played this one yet (reluctant to buy because then I still have to buy the DLC).

But, on City you had to press a direction on the left stick also, so it knows which way you want to cartwheel.

It seems to work when there are more than 3 enemies nearby.

You have to do the combo twice, once to lay the gel down and again to detonate it.

It can be tricky to pull off, and you can break your combo easily.

well.... if you use a keybord you double tap 3. i find all the gadgets and combos much simpler to pull of on the keybord. maybe that is just becuase i played the other 2 games on the keybord. the controler feels unweildy to me.
