Online game
Im basically looking for people to play with. I cant believe people didnt like that much the online mode. Even though the lobby interface is somehow lacking info everywhere, and the extremely HORRIBLE online performance hardly ever lets you play, the idea is quite good.
As I was saying, anyone wanna play?

I too am surprised that there is such a MAJOR lack of people online. Most of the time there aren't enough people to start a match! I can't believe that's possible. Something else must contribute.

At any rate, YES please! Play online more people! it is a very cool idea and way to play

That's because this game suffers from bad internet connection problems. Whenever you try to start a match, you lose half the players who try to get into the game and you end up with like say 3-1-2 players instead of 3 vs 3 vs 2. If you can't get into a game on your first try, there is no reason to keep playing it. It's why i left in the 1st place. This game was never ment to have Multiplayer in the 1st place. This was done out of Warner Bros own greed to make a quick buck and look what happen, Splash Damage can't update the game with the connection problems bacause WB has closed the support. No point in playing a broken game if it won't be fixed.

Connection issues aside, people just rather not play these kinds of games. You would probably find a bigger population on consoles but even then people didn't give this game a chance. Batman Arkham games were better off as single player instead of multiplayer.

If you want multiplayer, go download and play DC Universe Online.

Thats what I meant with "and the extremely HORRIBLE online performance hardly ever lets you play". Even though I like very much the concept of the game, two factions fighting for an area and two heroes trying to intimidate them all. I personally cant understand why they didnt think of adding even more characters, such as Nightwing, or even Deathstroke, but meh.
DC Universe Online has nothing to do with this kind of online game, I like this one a hundred times more than that other mmorpg game.

Basically the reason for why there is a lack of players is in your first post: the IDEA of the multiplayer component is great but it was implemented very poorly. As another example (and another WB game with bad multiplayer) I enjoyed the multiplayer of Mortal Kombat 9 immensely but after the same issues repeating themselves over and over again at one point I was just done. Never tried to play it again after that.

That's exactly what i said, The problems I see thus far are...

- Filling a server takes forever.

- Bad level balancing. When you have one lvl500 and one lvl250 in the same team, all the other players disconnects: either you continue to play in an horribly unbalanced game, or you have to quit and redo the whole 'starting a game takes forever'. And for some reason it seems impossible to successfully have a 3 v 3 v 2 match when you lose half the players on either side before the matches even begin.

- Clonky controls. The games was made for console, and it shows. It probably could be countered with skills, but the learning step is very much unfun.

- Too few levels. After a few rounds on the 4 maps, it quickly becomes boring.

My guess is that this game wasn't built with the intention of making MP a strong aspect of it. More like something thrown in just to appease those whining for it. No offense intended. The new generation just came out and this game was rushed for the window just barely before it. The MP hasn't caught on in terms of vast popularity cause i heard the reviews say it sucks badly and YES i have played it before. It seems obvious the MP isn't really something Splash Damage cared about. The biggest problem with the MP is that not enough people play it. It takes far too long to set up matches.

After a few months i've stopped playing it now. There are some good ideas and concepts there but in the end there just isn't enough there to hold your interest for very long before it just becomes slow repetition. Im also glad that Arkham Knight won't have Multiplayer cause it was never ment to have it in the first place. Batman: Arkham games were ment for single player only and nothing more.

Ok Nithrate, if you prefer a game that has team deathmatches then go download and play TitanFall or Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.

I did not like multiplayer mdoe, but I won't say it is good or bad.
It seems to have some potential, but the controls, and the gameplay felt non instictiv for me.
I did not understand all the abilities I had, nor did I understand what I had to do precisly, and what was happening.
On top of that Batman and Robin were hard to play with.

I did not have the patience learn the game, so I don't know how fun it can be when you do.

I'll go back on it to unlock some achievements I guess, but that is all.

First off let's look at other games. I'm not going to compare the multiplayer of those games to the Arkham Origins multiplayer, just how they used it. When you play the campaign in Gears of War for example, you take what you know and learned and do that in multiplayer. You shoot bad guys, you know how to reload, whatever. Same with Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Battlefield, and other multiplayer games. You take the skills from the story mode you had and use it in multiplayer.

Arkham Origins does this with Batman or Robin [if you played Harley Quinn's Revenge from Arkham City] that's 2 characters out of 8. When you play as thugs, you have no idea what to do. Yes it plays like Gears of War but pretend you've never played that. Focus on just your Batman game. We never learn how to play as a thug in story so we basically have to learn how to play as one with multiplayer. The same thing can be said with Joker and Bane.

The story and mutliplayer should be connected but it doesn't feel connected. I know they are made by different studios but that's not the way to do it.

Sure there are control schemes and videos helping but you are relearning an entirely new way to play instead of taking what you learned from the story and just do that. Here in this Batman MP, it just feels out of place.

A way to improve multiplayer is take out playing as thugs. The way how to do it is use the Gears of War Horde as influence. You could pick who you want to play as in a class sort of like Gears of War Judgment. Yes Judgment sucks and that should be the only thing you take from it so we don't have 4-6 people as Batman. You could play as Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, Huntress (referenced in Arkham City), or Batgirl. Have waves of thugs try to take over a building you guys are protecting. Have like 50-100 waves and at every 10th wave, include a boss with more thugs like include Bane or Croc or Grundy or Clayface and so on and so forth.

You take the skills you learned in the story and use them in this way for the multiplayer. Its also a lot more fun but as i said, you only do this with Batman or Robin but not as the thugs.

You are so right. It would have been sucha great idea to use the Bat-family as playable characters on a much better online game mode such as you described. And its true that the playability is not as nice as it should be, but well, like we have said so many times we shouldnt expect more from a last-second addition to the game. I really would have liked it if Arkham Knight was going to include another multiplayer mode, but only if they actually worked it out decently and hadnt abandoned the f**** support...

Yeah, there are hardly anyone on the servers, it can take forever for the match to be filled. Personally level balancing isn't a huge issue, maybe because its just a representation of how much time someone spends on it and not necessarily skill. Then again there might not be enough people online to balance levels anyway

What really gets me mad though, is how WB seems to not want to support/improve multiplayer. They implemented a multiplayer with pretty good gameplay to me, but its plagued with issues like Steam connections dropping and server disconnects, both extremely irritating in the middle of a match, especially so when there's nothing wrong with one's internet access, meaning the problem must be on the server side. The number of maps (four maps, really?) is an issue, but not so much to me.

Then there are the stupid issues like playing as a Hero in a skin that you did not equip/unlock, playing as Robin when you were selected as Batman, and playing a match with THREE Heroes (one Batman, two Robins). Really, WB, what are you doing?

Well Arkham Knight won't have Multiplayer so don't count on it happening anytime soon. That game will not feature a multiplayer component, as Sefton Hill explained: "This is a single-player game. There is no multiplayer. Right at the start this was our vision. It's going to take all of our effort for all of this time. We don't have the time to do multiplayer. The team plans to focus on making the best single-player experience we can. We don't feel that it needs a multiplayer element. Warner Bros. backed that up right at the start with Arkham Origins."

With that said, I seriously doubt that WB will hire another studio to do the Multiplayer seeing that Arkham Origins MP was considered a failure.

I actually knew they wouldnt include it, its just that I would have liked it though
ShadowHawk27 Jun 3, 2014 @ 1:32pm
Well news flash: WB and Splash Damage don't care about your pipe dream. So here's the common cure for that, it's called "move on". There's several things that I would have liked though but in the end i realize it's nothing but fantasy talk that will never come true.

Most people bought this game for the SP experience only and won't even give a chance for MP, after all, there's a lot of SP content to try (campaign, new game plus, challenge maps, Mr. Freeze DLC, etc) and nothing to incentive you to even give a shot to MP (unless you are into achievements).

If you want a game that has team deathmatches then go download and play TitanFall or Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.
