At any rate, YES please! Play online more people! it is a very cool idea and way to play
Connection issues aside, people just rather not play these kinds of games. You would probably find a bigger population on consoles but even then people didn't give this game a chance. Batman Arkham games were better off as single player instead of multiplayer.
If you want multiplayer, go download and play DC Universe Online.
DC Universe Online has nothing to do with this kind of online game, I like this one a hundred times more than that other mmorpg game.
- Filling a server takes forever.
- Bad level balancing. When you have one lvl500 and one lvl250 in the same team, all the other players disconnects: either you continue to play in an horribly unbalanced game, or you have to quit and redo the whole 'starting a game takes forever'. And for some reason it seems impossible to successfully have a 3 v 3 v 2 match when you lose half the players on either side before the matches even begin.
- Clonky controls. The games was made for console, and it shows. It probably could be countered with skills, but the learning step is very much unfun.
- Too few levels. After a few rounds on the 4 maps, it quickly becomes boring.
My guess is that this game wasn't built with the intention of making MP a strong aspect of it. More like something thrown in just to appease those whining for it. No offense intended. The new generation just came out and this game was rushed for the window just barely before it. The MP hasn't caught on in terms of vast popularity cause i heard the reviews say it sucks badly and YES i have played it before. It seems obvious the MP isn't really something Splash Damage cared about. The biggest problem with the MP is that not enough people play it. It takes far too long to set up matches.
After a few months i've stopped playing it now. There are some good ideas and concepts there but in the end there just isn't enough there to hold your interest for very long before it just becomes slow repetition. Im also glad that Arkham Knight won't have Multiplayer cause it was never ment to have it in the first place. Batman: Arkham games were ment for single player only and nothing more.
Ok Nithrate, if you prefer a game that has team deathmatches then go download and play TitanFall or Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.
It seems to have some potential, but the controls, and the gameplay felt non instictiv for me.
I did not understand all the abilities I had, nor did I understand what I had to do precisly, and what was happening.
On top of that Batman and Robin were hard to play with.
I did not have the patience learn the game, so I don't know how fun it can be when you do.
I'll go back on it to unlock some achievements I guess, but that is all.
Arkham Origins does this with Batman or Robin [if you played Harley Quinn's Revenge from Arkham City] that's 2 characters out of 8. When you play as thugs, you have no idea what to do. Yes it plays like Gears of War but pretend you've never played that. Focus on just your Batman game. We never learn how to play as a thug in story so we basically have to learn how to play as one with multiplayer. The same thing can be said with Joker and Bane.
The story and mutliplayer should be connected but it doesn't feel connected. I know they are made by different studios but that's not the way to do it.
Sure there are control schemes and videos helping but you are relearning an entirely new way to play instead of taking what you learned from the story and just do that. Here in this Batman MP, it just feels out of place.
A way to improve multiplayer is take out playing as thugs. The way how to do it is use the Gears of War Horde as influence. You could pick who you want to play as in a class sort of like Gears of War Judgment. Yes Judgment sucks and that should be the only thing you take from it so we don't have 4-6 people as Batman. You could play as Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, Huntress (referenced in Arkham City), or Batgirl. Have waves of thugs try to take over a building you guys are protecting. Have like 50-100 waves and at every 10th wave, include a boss with more thugs like include Bane or Croc or Grundy or Clayface and so on and so forth.
You take the skills you learned in the story and use them in this way for the multiplayer. Its also a lot more fun but as i said, you only do this with Batman or Robin but not as the thugs.
What really gets me mad though, is how WB seems to not want to support/improve multiplayer. They implemented a multiplayer with pretty good gameplay to me, but its plagued with issues like Steam connections dropping and server disconnects, both extremely irritating in the middle of a match, especially so when there's nothing wrong with one's internet access, meaning the problem must be on the server side. The number of maps (four maps, really?) is an issue, but not so much to me.
Then there are the stupid issues like playing as a Hero in a skin that you did not equip/unlock, playing as Robin when you were selected as Batman, and playing a match with THREE Heroes (one Batman, two Robins). Really, WB, what are you doing?
Well Arkham Knight won't have Multiplayer so don't count on it happening anytime soon. That game will not feature a multiplayer component, as Sefton Hill explained: "This is a single-player game. There is no multiplayer. Right at the start this was our vision. It's going to take all of our effort for all of this time. We don't have the time to do multiplayer. The team plans to focus on making the best single-player experience we can. We don't feel that it needs a multiplayer element. Warner Bros. backed that up right at the start with Arkham Origins."
With that said, I seriously doubt that WB will hire another studio to do the Multiplayer seeing that Arkham Origins MP was considered a failure.
Most people bought this game for the SP experience only and won't even give a chance for MP, after all, there's a lot of SP content to try (campaign, new game plus, challenge maps, Mr. Freeze DLC, etc) and nothing to incentive you to even give a shot to MP (unless you are into achievements).
If you want a game that has team deathmatches then go download and play TitanFall or Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.
You could be a little less ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and be nice to people.
