Game always crashes/freezes at the exact same point
Hey guys, I really hope that someone can help me.

The thing is, I've already completed this game a couple of years ago and then I didn't have nearly as many problems with it as this time.
The game is constantly crashing at the exact same places.
For example right after the beginning when Batman is in the Blackgate prison, or when you first enter the GCPD building. The last place it crashes for me everytime I try it, is right after exiting the ventilator shaft inside the Gotham bridge (during the Firefly missions), right before the Predator room (with the exploding gargoyles).
I tried everything I could: I delete the BmEngine everytime before I launch the game, I reinstalled the game completely several times, to no avail. And it is not one of those "Bm.exe stopped working" crashes to the desktop. The game just freezes and all I can do is reset my computer.
The strange thing is, sometimes the game will simply work for no reason and I am then unexpectedly able to go past the crashing point (not in the latter case, though).
I know that the support for this game is dead and burried, but if someone from the community would be able to help me, I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks and happy holidays to you all

1. Locate BmEngine.ini: Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Origins \ SinglePlayer \ BMGame \ Config \ BmEngine.ini
2. Open BmEngine.ini with NotePad
3. Locate "AllowD3D10=False" and change False to True
4. Locate "AllowD3D11=True" and change True to False
5. Save file and restart computer

Hey, thank you for your help. That seems to have done the trick. :)

Hello there? My game crashes when I'm advanced in the Blackgate prison as well.

I already changed stuff in the bmengine.ini and got fluency plus FPS, but the crash still happens in those corridors (after the police something gets killed by the gas).

My specs:
i3 10100
Integrated GPU, Intel UHD 630, 4 GB
8 GB RAM, single channel

As said, now the game runs smoothly but crashes there.

I'd like to know if there's anything else I can do to continue the story.

Did you disable PhysX as instructed above? Also try reducing in-game screen resolution from maximum. If it still persists, try reducing all other settings in the Graphic Options menu.

Sorry for the necro but this fixed my issues as well. Turning off PhysX seems to have done the trick. DirectX11 could remain turned on. Thank you so much for this comment! :lunar2019piginablanket:

@metaphase-iwnl, you're welcome for the fix but you might want to keep DX11 disabled in order to prevent the freefall out the map glitch that effects various rooms in the game.

Will keep that in mind, thank you!

Several years later this solution is still working, but it's a shame they didn't fix the game.
