Why should they "regret" about it? I assume that on XBox One the amount of players is high enough to leave them online (for the Moment)
Again normal business behavior. They added microtransactions because they wanted to earn money with their property and pulled the plug of BAO Online because it caused costs and brought no mentionable Profit. They´re a company for profit, not for charity and in the End it´s all about the money.
@KaizokuNinja That WB has stopped supporting it does not mean they would allow others to run their own Servers. Its still their intellectual property
Well might be that they have intellectual property on the game and it's files but it's a fact that there would be even more players around if they release something like a "Dedicated Server"-Toolkit for the community. Have a look on the Source Games, the official servers for the older games like Left 4 Dead are almost dead if they aren't already but still the community keeps the games alive with their own servers.
So why would they think of a disadvatage after releasing such a toolkit?
I mean the only thing that ever hurt me during my journey through the Arkham series was the dead of the multiplayer, since I'm a perfectionist... I have the first two arkham games on 100% and no matter how hard I try I will never ever be able to finish this game. And thats the only reason why I didn't go for the 100% on Arkham Knight beacuse this whole thing killed my mentallity on these games
(my opinion)
I think that they also see no advantage in release such a toolkit without earning something on it and having the complete control over what people are doing with it.
The Servers were up for years and according the fact how fast WB has pulled the plug (in comparision with other Games) I´d say that the demand for the Arkham Origins Multiplayer was never really that big that it would be profitable to keep the Servers up or releasing such a toolkit (I´m shure if WB would see a advantage or profit in that they had released one already years ago)
Well it would be a one time release and then it would be a "perpetuum mobile" and in fact they could also implement / keep alive their micro transaction things in order to earn money from a self-runner. And another thing is they could provide this gamemode without any loss of their ressources since most of the servers will be dedicated hosting by the community.
However I personaly didn't like the multiplayer but I know a whole lot of people (also in reallife) that where more than just upset after they pulled this gamemode. They raged out of those series, uninstalled all of the games according to the Batman Arkham series and never touched them again in some sort of a silent protest. Im sure those people would come back again and dump some more money into this mode.
Anyways according to me it just grinds my gears to have this game staying unfinished forever, without any (legal / fair) possibility to do something about it.
