Is the first Bane fight...
...completely unfair?
I swear, I every time I play this game (which is more times than it deserves to be played), I get to the first Bane fight, start inside, do well, get outside, die, reload, start outside, and win. That's always the pattern, every time.
The first part of the fight, I win, but by the time we get out onto the rooftop, I've lost a bit of health and I'm unable to continue. I die on the roof, the game reloads the checkpoint to the start of the roof part, gives me full health, and then I win with plenty to spare.
Am I the only one with this issue?

It is not completely unfair, but it does test you as a player. If you're taking damage from Bane, don't. He's easy to avoid. Do a Phi or Theta pattern evade by running in a wide turning arc around him when he charges in a straight line toward you. You can also steer him into the annoying goons to knock them down by running in their direction during his charge.

Speaking of the goons, you can take them down with a Special Combo Multi Ground Takedown (multiple simultaneous Batarangs) by building up a red 12x combo and performing 2 special combo moves, the combat Explosive Gel and then the Special Combo Multi Ground Takedown. Remember, after you get the Shock Gloves you can unlock the Double Combo move. If for some reason you can't purchase this from your upgrade screen because you haven't been ranking up properly, quit to the menu and do some Challenge Maps until you can afford this upgrade.

Don't suck and you'll be fine.

Batman games are notorius for the artificial hurdle boss fights, I wish you could just skip them cos they are not even fun to do. Anyhow, with that first boss you just spam the batarang constantly and then go close to do an attack.

the point was to push you as it would push the batman. Bane is a big guy and with the titan, he would be an unstoppable force. It was a great boss fightin my opinion.

This is an interesting fight as far as game mechanics go. If you're low on health by the time the fight enters the phase where you're outside, it's a very tough fight. Reloading your last checkpoint won't restore your health to make the fight easier, you actually have to lose to fully restore your health and make this fight survivable.
