What the hell is wrong with classes unlock conditions?

Sooo... I've been trying to unlock all classes lately. My next target was the Barbarian. This is what the game told me to do, and I quote:

"Defeat the guardian of the Infernal Hells with the Warrior"

So I think to myself, "Hey, unlike other classes, it does not say I have to sit on a throne... sooo, I guess I just have to kill floor 11 boss and I'll be good to go. Maybe some classes are deliberately harder to unlock than others. Cool."

So here I am, trying to get a good build with my Warrior, spending my souls solely on bonfire upgrades and not giving a damn about alignment cause you know, all I have to do is defeat the guardian of Hells, right? RIGHT? That's what the game told me to do after all? RIGHT?

Wrong.

Run's over. Back to main menu, no Barbarian in sight. Now the unlock condition has been replaced by "Ascend on the Infernal Throne as the Warrior".

For real? Ruby, do you get your kicks out of baiting people like this? Misleading them? My entire run was all for nothing, yay. Brilliant game design.

Same goes for Mystic / Dancer, and probably some more classes. Well, at least I guess I won't get fooled again.

But still, what the heck? I just hate the whole "LOL JUST KIDDING" vibe of it. Either you clearly state the unlock condition or you don't.

So this game's still in Beta and there's a lot to correct. The other requirements for unlocking the alternative characters are all "sit on X throne" except the one you ran into.

Like I totally get your frustration, there are other items in the game that say "be X evil/good to activate a bonus" but the printed number is too low and the first time I ran into them I was pretty ticked off.

But I strongly doubt that the dev was intentionally trying to torment you with what likely amounts to a simple mistake.

I also have it with Gunslinger/Cyborg. So that's at least three times I've been mislead.

Bought the game less than a week ago, have unlocked all characters and not once have I ran into such a problem.
Some characters require killing "guardians", others require sitting on thrones.
Are you sure you haven't simply misread/misremembered?

That would be Tiamat.
The thing is, Barbarian's unlock doesn't tell you to do that, it tells you to ascend on the infernal throne.

I can confirm that I've seen "defeat the guardian of infernal hells" on some class unlocks in the past, but now it says "sit on X throne" for all of them. It's a weird bug or something

I unlocked Dancer class with the mystic by defeating the Heavens Guardians so this one should be safe.
