[Spoiler] Mythological creatures
I've finished the game and maybe i missed something but aren't 95% of the enemies we encounter humanoids ?

If i remember well, i met :
- humanoids (humans, satyrs, cyclops and skeletons are based on the same model)
- sirens
- lions, wolves (same base too)
- chimera
- and some neutral animals (horses, deers, birds, squirrels)

I really liked the game but i also wanted to know the excitement of discovering an hydra's den or maybe meet some gorgons (mirror shield + torches = 1981 clash of the titans !) , harpies, minotaurs, centaurs, griffins, etc. And where is Cerberus ?

... So i'm kinda frustrated... Anyone else feeling the same ?

Well, notice that you have Hydra Bone Arrows in-game, so the Hydra is most probably dead by this point. As for other creatures, there are minotaurs in-game: and minotaurs are also humanoid in that they only have the head of a bull, but the body of a human. The same goes for the Gorgons: they look just like humans, but with snake hair. Ditto for centaurs: human/horse hybrids, and harpies: human-bird hybrids If you think about it, almost all Greek monsters are halfbreeds.

In most cases, we tried creating some more 'monstrous' monsters but most of them ended up on the cutting room floor for being extremely difficult to implement with the way our physics combat system works, and generally uninteresting to fight. Very early on we had a hydra in the swamp, but ended up replacing it with the chimera. Cerberus was scrapped for being extremely complicated with the multiple heads (same nail in the coffin for the hydra).
Basically, making any of these unique monsters required a hell of a lot of new code workarounds and design to make them work within the game mechanics, which was impossible for our small team. The game was primarily designed to fight other humanoids with weapons.

We tried to add as many nods to these creatures as we could throughout the game. There are hydra fangs, gorgons appear on shields, Athena's aegis, and theres a mirror shield. Griffons and other baddies abound as statues or other imagries.
If we had the manpower, time, and resources, we would've loved to have more monsters in the game, but we had to make some compromises.

Yeah, really appreciated. I get it now and i feel a bit stupid for not understanding this by myself. Btw, like i said i really enjoyed the game. That's maybe why i wanted more of it. Thanks for the answer (and sorry again for my english).

I like your honesty. From a mythological standpoint though it would make alot of sense that many of these beasts are missing. Cerberus was stolen from Hades by Heracles, and varying versions of the myth say that Heracles keeps Cerberus for himself, others say he kills Cerberus, and still others claim he returned Cerberus to the Underworld. Depends on how you look at the myths.

I really liked this game, I hope to see more games of this unique style from you guys. Maybe not with a greek theme (a game using Celtic, Roman, or even Ancient Chinese mythology would be really interesting to see.)
