Air dash
This isn't much of a big issue, but I was wondering why dashing on the ground is much easier to execute than air dashing. I'm using a gamepad (really working on getting my hands on a fightstick) and it's really difficult to pull off air dashes consecutively (as opposed to GGXX or MBAACC) Either way, just curious. Thanks.

ye I dont know why is it so hard, also playing on a pad and my temporary solution is to bind two punches to one of the macros, I say temporary since it would be best to just learn to press those two punches yourself, specially if you plan on getting a stick just like I do.

a little warning tho,I dunno if its my pad since its an old piece of junk like my inputs are lagged or somthing, but when the dash is bound to a macro you cant use any attack instantly after like, you cant dash>j.HP you need to have a bit of delay OR (another temporary solution) double tap the attack you want

Have you ever tried to run in the air? It's a lot harder than it looks!

I'm not too sure if you are referring to IAD or not. Being a huge MBAC player I can tell you how much I miss forward up forward IAD. I'm still trying to get the timing on up forward and 2 punches but its a pain. Using forward forward for air dash is in-efficient as 2 punches is 1 input and F+F is 2.
You can literally just press up and two buttons at the same time. You will airdash forward

Thanks for the responses. And while I've tried using the two button combination (For my gamepad or xbox controller it would be Y+RB) it seems that just implimenting a slower dash would be better. I mean, I can't really find a logical reason to have different timings for ground dashing and air dashing. It only makes following up on combos a little easier to mess up.

And please don't get me wrong. I am a beginner and I'm not aggravated in the slightest. Just curious. I don't know if learning to time a button combination would be effective if I plan on getting a fightstick anyways. And for games that support following up combos with air dashes, usually they're not hard to impliment (I might need a spell check here lol..)

Either way, thanks for the suggestions. I'm sure this is something that won't be changed and I feel like it would be easier on a fightstick. (After trying air dashes on KB and on my friends Q4 I can say personally, it's a lot easier). Either way, thanks for the responses!

Same issue as I have..
I'm really confused about how many people are having issues with this. Try binding 2 punches to one button to make it easier but there is literally no timing involved in air dashes. You can air dash at any point in time after you jump. As I said, you can literally press the up and 2 punches at the exact same moment and you will air dash. I am not trying to sound like a ♥♥♥♥, but it is hard for me to wrap my brain around how this is difficult for some people. I want to be able to give advice to new players but this problem perplexes me.

Are you having problems with raw airdashes or air dash canceling?
Tim Aug 6, 2013 @ 9:39pm
Raw air dashes. And I guess if anyone is having the problem I am, it's adjusting to the speed of the command. Like I stated in the beginning, it's not a big issue, and one that I'll come to terms with getting used to. But I was just trying some basic combos into air dashing and using a button combination was a lot harder to pull off. But using analog to perform the air dash remains inconsistent. So I can say I'm pretty hesitant to jump into any online matches.

And sorry to hurt your brain, Secret =P This is probably the easiest command for a honed player. And if I may ask, what do you use for a controller (Stick, keyboard, gamepad, mind??)

Most (new) people are having this issue because they're trying to double tap forward, on a pad, 99% of them are doing it on a 360pad, raw or cancel, I had this problem with both because I was trying to do just that (double tapping) but ye the easiest way to overcome this issue is two punches or macro
I use an arcade stick. If you have a dpad on your controller I would recommend that. It is actually 100% possible to play this game like Guilty Gear and air dash, ground dash using directional inputs. I actualy kind of prefer this when I play Parasoul. You can do IADs the same way you would in GG, by inputing 96 on the directional pad. It's an easier input than doing 866 and should make things a little easier for you.

I guess I'll just have to get used to it as a command with a macro rather than trying to double tap analog. It's definitely weird. It'll also be a while before I obtain a fightstick but the purpose of the fightstick isn't solely for this game. It'd also really help with SF4 GGXX MB (When King Of Fighters comes to Steam I'll be playing that too).

But regardless, thanks. I'll just have to put in those hours of painful practice =P

Thanks for the input too. I've never ever ever played a fighter with the 360 controllers d-pad.. But I'll give that a shot too! And this is also the first "Swap-em-out" type fighter. So there's a lot to learn. So far I've only been playing 1 character at a time as adding more commands to the mix is even more nerve wracking. As far as the IAD I'll give it a shot. Combos (so far) aren't too hard but that's executing them in training. And I've only managed to beat arcade with a single character on "Normal" diff.

SG has minimum air dash height. Pressing up + 2P will automatically have you forward air dash on the earliest frame possible. Up-back + 2P will backwards air dash.
