And the same question goes for hint #5:
why must 8 be in r8c6? There is nothing preventing 7 from being there

Hint #5 also states that r8c1/2/3/4 must be from 1/2/3/4, which is obvious nonsense. The hints have never gotten any quality control in any of the packs, and they never will.

Why can 9 only be in r9c2? I have no mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea...

I bruteforced the solution and r1c1/2/3 are actually from 1/4/5 so hint 2 is completly wrong. That's a shame :(

that is unfortunate

I also stumbeled over that one. Maybe the hints actually refer to box 9, rather than box 1?

This puzzle is riddled with nonsense hints. Hint #5 asserts that r8c1/2/3/4 must be 1/2/3/4, but there is a given 2 in r8c5.

Ignoring hint 2 altogether, and changing that "1234" hint from row 8 to row 7 seems to work

I can answer the r9c2 question. Eventually you can pencil mark 8s and 9s in the bottom row of box 7 such that not placing 9 in r9c2 would result in an 8 in r9c1 and a 9 in r9c3. That would mean r9c2 is a number greater than 8 that isn't 9.

Does anyone know how to actually do this puzzle (without bifurcation/brute force)? The hints have been updated, but they’re still wrong. Even after Hint #2 has now been updated to include the option of 1/4/5, Hint #3 now asserts “… r3c4/5 are either 6/8 or 7/8” but I don’t see why it can’t be 5/8; and “and 8 in r1c8” but I don’t see how they reached that conclusion and there are other options for 8 in both row 1 and box 3…

The 6/8 or 7/8 hint is indeed incorrect. But once you do put 5/8 in, there is only one place for 9 in row one, which results in only one place for 8 in row one.
