Need some tips on how to know what weapons to equip and optimisation help
So I usually just leave the default equipment…however I ended up clicking “optimise” and it combined some off equipment. It threw off all my characters.

I also noticed weapons have skills too

It’s made me feel a bit confused as to the best approach for what character should have what weapons, and what skills to focus on.

I seemed to enjoy Mido’s demo from PS5 a lot, and was day 1 purchase, however playing Diva on Steam has made me hesitant on getting it; but trying to decide if PS5 or Steam for ROG Ally portability. I didn’t enjoy the Switch Witch as much.

I had the same feeling with the "optimize" button, it threw me off a lot too, the equiping armaments logic of this feature is way too poorly done to be used given the complexity of possible character builds. I would strongly advise NOT to use it except for maybe to give you an equipment baseline but you should switch around armaments around your characters after using this optimize feature. If you want to use it to see and test what it does I recommend saving and loading if you are afraid to mess your characters equipment.

Personaly as to which weapon to equip on which, of course I look at the skill level but there is a section in the tips menu called "character enhancement", here under every stats you have the weapon type those stats would favor. With that I also personaly include the weapon damage type in my choice, for exemple basic skill with foils do piercing damage while greatsword do slash and blunt damage, to try to maximize monsters weakness damage.

I didnt play the ps5 version so I don't know how the characters play here but for Diva I applied all the same equipment logic as I explained earlier while taking time to equip and unequip armaments to read their skills effect. It is also noted mechs can also equip relics weapons so you can really make stats inflated mechs with those.

I wouldnt be too afraid to equip stuff you don't have the highest skill for, if you equip 2 weapons of the same category or the same sub category, it would give you less options and versatibility.
Hope that helps.

I wish we could know what skills are taught by weapons. Maybe, it became too complex because of custom techs.

I am curious what makes the PS5 demo feel best. Ican not play it, but I thought Steam would be better.

Is there a way to preview enemies or enemy types before a fight, so you know what weapons to use to exploit the weaknesses?

Thanks so much for your informative reply. I guess the game will have lots of trial and error, but the tips and glossary have been amazing. Helped me grasp more concepts.

I’m not sure to start fresh or use my demo save. I’m thinking enemy data may carry over consequent playthroughs but I would like to get a refresher from the beginning as I rushed Diva and focused on Mido on PS5.

I think the main reason I vibed with the PS5 was because I liked the main Character (Mido) more than a Diva robot. He is a bit cheeky too, not that the main draw is the story; but it helps.

I ended up getting it on Steam to play portable on my ROG Ally.

I have a feeling that it may unlock in consequent playthroughs when data is saved perhaps? I’m not sure to be honest but it would be helpful

Just like in Scarlet Grace, if you've fought an enemy once you can see their name on the fight preview instead of ?????. Strangely enough, I'm surprised the Tip for enemy types and weaknesses is missing. They had a whole portion of them in Scarlet Grace.

Weird. You figure that'd be key info.

At least you have your attack type "glowing" before you confirm your tech/spells, so you can just check if that happens for all your attack types your characters can do but I agree a tips section for weaknesses would have been great too
