Saga fans what are your thoughts on emerald
Hi saga fans. I first played unlimited saga I think it was called on ps2. I enjoyed it but out it down to all the layers I had to learned. I played minstrel saga and I loved it. I am playing scarlet and now emerald.

What are your thoughts on emerald. I am playing the witch girl and I am having fun but I feel the game holds your hand a lot :( so far the complexity isn’t there.

It plays more like a mobile game than a full console/pc release game. To your point, it seems to hold your hand quite a bit (literally tells you where to go talk to people to advance the story). Having said that, I've had 1-2 fights that were tough and made me want to grind a little for new abilities/items.

I don't think this game sits on the top of Saga games like Romancing Saga 3 or Saga Frontier 1/2, but it's fine and I'm enjoying it. Enjoying the game is the entire point, so as long as you have that then you can say it's a success.

I like it. Exploration doesn't feel as open as Scarlet Grace, but I think it's more focused on replayability due to how things change depending on what events you pursue. Combat and party customization are great, though.

Also, Ameya Aisling's scenario is more beginner-friendly -- even Mido and Diva had more choices in the demo.

It's like other SaGa games, in that it is very different from all the others. If you like SaGa you'll have a good time!

The UI is absolute ♥♥♥♥, but other than that the game is great. How much the UI ruins the game is TBD.

So far I think its awesome. They took scarlet grace and build on top of everything.
That said the game is way more obtuse than scarlet grace and on top of that the interface is way worse here. Upgrading items and managing techs on your retinue is a nightmare.

I am really liking it. And according to some folks, it seems it has somewhat of a roguelite element in the sense of shorter "runs" with a lot of variations and replayability and an element of change depending on previous runs.

Not sure how exactly that pans out but you can see the seeds of those statements with the events that dissapear.

I see this is an evolution of Scarlet Grace's quests that had a lot of variation on how to go about them. But, it seems the mindset this time was to focus on shorter scenarios so they would be replayed more.

I liked the graphics of Scarlet Grace better. The washed out color aesthetic doesn't really work for me but... the gameplay is rock solid and the music is awesome, always.

For me, the game was absolutely worth the purchase.

This says it all.

I am liking the vibe but I am struggling with the time bars in the game. I know what skills do, but at times there is nothing I can do to stop monsters from doing their combos. Do you guys have any tips in mastering the timing. It seem really rng in my opinion

Eventually you will get more Conditionals. Those are the best way to stop monsters from doing combos. Especially Pursuits (these activate right after an enemy attacks and places you one timeline panel to their right).

Also attacks with Delay, like the Brusque Slice from short swords/knives.

I'm really enjoying it so far, apart from the awful UI.

The combat is some of the best in the genre.

So I am finding the way for Ameya to learn spells is by finding items with a spell attached to it. Is this accurate? Thank you .

For her, yes. But she can also learn spells normally. I learned Holy Water in my 1st run with Ameya.

I am testing out the details but it looks to be tied to skill level and usage of spells of the same element.

The UI is trash and there needs to be a 2x or 3x speed option, but otherwise this game is exactly what I hoped for. That said I've enjoyed every game in the series except Unlimited.

So I absolutely crushed the last boss in Ameya story. I finished her episode. I am guessing more unlocks the more you play the episode.

I am enjoying the game but I feel it’s a super casual saga game. For me the sense of exploration is gone like you had in minstrel. The combat is super easy once you get the timing down.

Does anyone else feel like I do?
