How do you learn spells?
Playing as Diva, Amaya the Witch joined my group and somehow doesn't know any spells. In Scarlet Grace spells were dependent on using a staff & learning spells upon finishing a combat but here I have no idea.

Now, I know what people really want in anything is a personal testimony. Just now, Lita learned Wall of Air. The following are true:

1. She learned this after battle, not during.
2. It is the Wood Element, which matches Gravity Bind, the Wood magic I used.
3. She already comes with Gravity Bind. It is NOT given to her through roles or equipment.
4. Her Wood Element is 5, Magic Skill is 6, and Intelligence is 29.
5. It took MANY battles just to get this to happen, but I'm only in my chosen second World.

At the very least, the in-game Tip seems pretty accurate. Hope this helps!

I found one super rare drop (it was called 'Rusted Sword') during the Diva demo in Pulchara that could be crafted into one of two swords that can grant a spell for equipping it. I've occasionally seen gear through the trading system that can also allow use of a spell.

There doesn't seem to be an easy way to get such gear early in the game for Diva... That first drop I mentioned was on a test file that I no longer have, and even though I'm fairly sure I know where I got it, I've failed to get it to drop again after like 10 attempts.

Hey thanks for your reply!

So if I understand correctly, spells come from equipment. I'll have to check what I currently have. Can you glimmer these upon using said spells repeatedly?

My assumption is yes, the problem is I have yet to actually obtain any of these spell-teaching equipment in my current playthrough.

Mr. S's training can get you spells, though I haven't used it for that yet because you don't really get a magey-looking character under the end of the demo.

I’ve had a Kugutsu learn a spell randomly after a battle.
And there are items to craft that have spells on them. My guess is you could glimmer those.

It can increase your staff/spellcasting level, but I'm not sure, can that lead to actually getting spells, does anyone know?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Wonderful thanks for the help. So if a character joins the retinue with no spells whatsoever but with element >= 1, all that is left is to use spells through some rare equipments, if I understood correctly.

This should be how it works for characters who don't naturally know any magic, yes. I haven't tested this theory for magic found on equipment specifically, but the Tip itself seems to imply it.
