corrupt save file
surprise surprise. my save profile is corrupt after completing a full season. this has got to be the worst excuse for a game ever. and the save wasnt even from syncing to steam cloud

codemasters haha, what an absolute joke

Damage is done though, 2 seasons of hard work. not going to stop me, just gives a bit more work to do

JUST HAD THE SAME FRIKKEN THING HAPPEN! and cos dumb ass steam deletes local files when they are replaced, no way to recover them! AAARRRGG!!!!

haha same here, nearly completed my full second season, was some steam cloud.. import or export and then started game save file corrupt...why????? all my hard work 30 hours...

Have a possible fix for PC if it happens again people...
***Note that I have not tested this yet, but I have adapted the method for fixing corrupt save game files from F1 2011. I would say I am not responsible for anything bad that happens, but the worst that could happen is you lose your save game, which was going to happen anyway.

Mine got corrupt yesterday so also have to start again, BUT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, HERE IS WHAT TO DO!

  • If you load the game, and it suddenly says "Save Game Corrupt", IMMEDIATELY ATL+F4 the game to close it, DO NOT click anything to make a new save etc...
  • Go to Steam, and right click on F1 2012>Properties>Updates, and disable Steam Cloud sync for F1 2012.
  • Go to Steam Settings, and Downloads+Cloud tab, and disable Steam Cloud Sync for ALL games.
  • Navigate to your Steam install directory, and find your F1 2012 save game saved on your local machine, usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\"your_steam_number"\208500\remote. You should see 15 files all starting with "savegame@profile"
  • Make a backup of ALL of these files REGULARLY to be safe for the future, but right now just copy the files ending in "gtehxosjz_0" and "gtehxosjz_1" to your desktop.
  • Now, delete those 2 files from your F1 2012 save game folder, keeping the copies on your desktop.
  • Now, copy ONLY the file ending in "gtehxosjz_1" from your desktop BACK to your F1 2012 folder, and then copy it across AGAIN so you have 2 copies of the same file, one will have " - Copy" after its name.
  • Finally, RENAME the file which ends in " - Copy" to "savegame@profile0#gtehxosjz_0"

That should do it. You may lose your custom control assignments, but hopefully your save game will not be corrupted when you load up again.

^^ what he said, just the 'Go to Steam Settings, and Downloads+Cloud tab, and disable Steam Cloud Sync for ALL games' works, seems to be a steam issue not a codemasters

Steam Cloud Sync was already disabled. So this is yet another problem codemasters have with this game

Just been stung by the corrupt game save, that's every F1 game codemasters have made with the same bug, quality NOT.

M'hale told very good explanations to this issue. But mine 'remote' folder was empty (because of the stupid Steam Cloud), so i couldn't follow those instructions of M'hale.
Anyway if you experiencing this problem and additionally your savegames have been deleted in your 'remote' folder by Steam like mine; right click your 'remote' folder and click the "Load previous versions" . Then select a previous folder and change it with the empty 'remote' folder.
Make sure Steam is not running while you're doing this. Then try those steps above.

PAIN IN THE ASS BUG, lost so many saves this way, can't be arsed to play anymore. Well done Codemasters, last bloody buggy game I'll buy from you. 2012 and still not patched????

It's painfull when that happens, happened to me to. I haven't had the problem in 2013 though.

Second time now that this has happened. First one was in Suzuka and yesterday with another career it happened at the Texas mark. I kept regular backups of the 208500 folder but Mhael's method doesn't work. Read somewhere that manual save doesn't work either. There is really no solution for this. Game is broken. Last hope is using GSM (Game Save Manager).

Thank you very much this works! was able to get my save data from 2 days before the corrupt bug, and it worked. I had saved in abu dhabi qualification then I wasn't able to play the race, but you saved my data thanks alot!
just got to redo the qualif but it's much better as redoing the full career and remake a profile.

♥♥♥♥ you codemasters. this is the 3rd time it happens to me and yet you still can't fix this (Playing on f1 2014)
