Recommend a PC/PS3 steering wheel
Would like to play this game using a steering wheel controller. Anyone have any recommendations for one that is compatible with both PC and PS3? Looked online at the Logitech G27; looks nice but not sure I want to spend $200.

I prefer the G25/27, those are the only ones I can recommend personally. Havent tried the GT but ive heard good things so it might be an option.

I can not prefer G27 because it has much steering play in the middle! The vibraton is also horrible! I drive with a xbox 360 wireless controller and I am much faster as with the G27!
Try it out, but I am sure you will feel like me! The tests in the magazins for G27 are always good
but for googd drivers its nothing because its to much plastic inside. Play with controller or look for a Fanatech! If you buy the G27 like me, please give me a feedback. Mine is already sold!

If you don't want to spend more than $200 your only choice is the Logitech DFGT. There's no other wheel under 200 that is worth getting and the DFGT is only $100. You get basically everything a G27 has except there's no clutch pedal or h pattern shifter.

On the bright side it's a great wheel that has nearly all you need.

You can buy a different pedal set with a clutch and a H pattern shifter and use it with the DFGT on PC games, but for PS3 you'll have a great wheel with good force feedback, 900 degrees of steering, and it especially works great with GT5, since it was made for Gran Turismo.

Has a ton of buttons on it too which really come in handy.

That is absolute nonsense. The G27 is fine. Don't listen to this guy.

The Fanatec is better, but a gamepad is a waste of time. Only people too stubborn to learn how to drive with a wheel would ever use a gamepad after using a wheel.

Once you start using a wheel, you can never go back. I will never play a racing game with a controller again because wheels make racing with a controller look incredibly boring and pointless.

Get a DFGT, it's only $100. Once you have the money though, I suggest Fanatec CSR wheel or G27

Fanatec CSR elite or BMW are the best wheels i ever owned and it also works for every single platform, my G27 is collecting dust in my basement i haven't used it since.

Just remember you need to setup your wheel in a specific way for it to work with Formula One.

Theese are the best settings i have found so far for F1 with a Fanatec wheel.

Sen 280
FF 100
Sho 70
Dri off
Abs 100 (only if you don't use assists)
Lin 0
Dea 0
Spr 0
Drp -3

Would love to get the fanatec, but definitely out of my price range. The Driving Force GT looks like a good option for me. But I have this nagging feeling I should just spend the money on the G27. Thanks all for your helpful comments.

I bought a T500RS. Was 349 Euro over here vs 299 for the Logitech G27. Much better wheel.

If you are just looking to mess around in F1 2012 and what not, I would recommend the DFGT as at that price you get a decent mid range wheel set.. If you are looking to try your hand at some of the more "serious" sims then the T500RS or Fanatec is probably going to be more to your liking. That said I am still running a stock G25 and it's been used in everything from LFS and Netkar to iR and Project CARS. Still going strong!

yeah, i recommend the g27, its got a great feel and the racing is fun. Most stores nowadays(got mine at fry's) will pricematch to Amazon's current price of $239 if you don't want to wait and pay for shipping :) For the price, not much else can beat this, and if you are serious about getting atleast a decent wheel, I would hold off until you can afford something atleast of g27 quality, you will end up wishing you did later when you find out the cheap stuff is just a waste of time. The DFGT sounds like a great option for 100 like someone mentioned above, but if you ever want to use clutch and shifter, sounds like a pretty shotty deal.. good luck!
