Please buff Iron Skin
among the skills Iron Skin is the worst so far, reducing the damage by one (not at all if the attack deals 0 damage) its already a mediocre effect since there are few attacks that deal more than 2 damage and those which do are usually incredibly easy to avoid; the -3 to your life bar take the skill from 6 feet under just to dig 6 feet even deeper and buring it with cement: on day 6 and foward it reduces your life bar TO 2 HIT POINTS, IT MEANS THAT IF YOU GET HIT BY JUST TWO ENEMIES (PRETTY EASY IN LATER ISLAND) OR GET COMBOED BY A SINGLE ONE (AGAIN PRETTY EASY) IT'S BASICALLY OVER.

I really don't like when a skill becomes a debuff the more you play, the other skills are realy fine, but this one is so bad it makes me sad.

This is a cry for help to the poor defense merchant, who is in competition with dancer and warring in a game were not getting hit or killing everithing as fast as possible are far more valuable than getting effects on hit. Even if you beat the shogun, the guy will remain broke...

Iron Skin is still good on Day 7 if you also draw a +2 health perk, which is not too hard to get considering Guard has many of the best traits baked into it (Shield on damage taken, Shield on round start, freeze on hit, et al). It's definitely less good, but it's plenty usable.

Honestly kind of surprised you think Defense shop is bad, since it can more than double your effective health pool with a single one of its better upgrades.

Maybe its because of my playstyle, but the fact that it requires other traits to be usable puts it in a lot of disadvantage, add the fact that more often than not you'll be able to buy 1 perk (another disadvantage of iron skin: it's cost of 20 coins) and you realize that even tho it works well with other defensive perks, it's a big loss in opportunity cost.

for example: why take iron skin when I can take double faced, which is busted since it allows you to turn around basically for free, the price of getting cursed if you turn around more than once is negligible since dancer shop is about your special movement (often used to not get hit).

So that's my problem with iron skin: it hinders the playstyle which is trying to push, defence shop should invite you to take damage strategically, I think it would be better if iron skin gave you another tipe of debuff.

The defense shop has the best two skills in the game:
Getting a shield everytime you get hit and starting each round with a shield.
You don't even need to play well to steamroll the game if you get both.
Defense shop is clutch on Day 7. I've never taken that skill though. The hp, reactive shield, and shield persists across fights are 3 of my favorite skills. I'm happy to get any shop besides combo though.

Funny, it's the opposite for me. I avoid defense shops like the plague and think combo shops are the best.

I've found nearly all my losses are down to careless play - which defense shops could mitigate, sure, but I could also just play better. Though I admit the shield at start is really nice, especially for the no-damage stamp.

Personally, I think combo shops are the best though. Nearly all the passives are amazing; Combo Coin? Get it early, and you'll break the eco. Kobushi Combo? Cool; you can jack up the damage on two tiles while entirely ignoring any cooldown increases. Combo Recharge? Just let them hover around 4. Combo Curse? Curse is always good. Now even your trash tiles can pick up a kill, and some tiles like the hooked blade really love it. Combo Boon is free potions.

That being said, my playstyle revolves around building high-damage aoe tiles, since I think they're the best in terms of action economy, so I have an easy time getting combos :D

I should give a combo build a try, you are making it sound fun! I generally build in the most cautious/safe way I can in any roguelite/roguelike. Idk why. Trauma from losing 10 hours into a run in Tales of Maj'Eyal I guess lol. You've sold me on it, going for a combo build next run.

I think iron skin would be fine if your starting HP was 10 on later days. Unless you get +2 HP skill first, iron skin is not worth it. Having just 2 HP leaves no room for error. It's better to just invest in other skills.

Defense merchant is really good, iron skin is dramatically terrible and unironically a debuff. IMO it needs to be made better or it needs to be removed, as buying this skill currently decreases your chances of getting the aforementioned good defense skills.

It could simply not reduce hp and be more expensive.

I agree that it is a terrible skill, but particularly on day 7. If you buy it at full health, you should add 5gp as an extra cost for the approximate like-for-like value of the hp that is sacrificed, making it the most expensive skill. Without the new overflow skill, or the aforementioned extra hp skill, it also means that your health potions cannot heal 3hp, but at best 2, making them 33% less effective. And yes, you arguably become more fragile in the process. An unblocked 1-2 strike enemy brings you from full health to 1 hp, which is arguably more dangerous than going from full health to 2hp, despite losing technically less life. I do not know how it interacts with curse though.

I do tend to avoid the defense shop, even though I appreciate the reactive shield skill quite a bit. I don't think it is nearly as op as some claimed. Having effectively double the health is good, but not twice better than not having it. Saving the money and using it in economy skills, offensive skills or just plain weapon upgrades is imo a better way to avoid damage (I still make lots of clumsy errors, but the game is actually quite forgiving with the amount of health potions).

Dancer shop has actually gotten quite good. Two-faced is amazing, but also now the damage on special without cooldown increase is strong. It stacks, synergises with the curse on special for quite some nice damage and you can still hold tiles in hand for after the move.
