Hard to roll skills

Last runs I've played have been very similar despite having all skills unlocked. Some skills are really hard to get.

Skills bans at the shop? Same skill only offered once? A new custom mode that disables steam trophies but allows you to have any setup you want? A third skills setup for characters? A fourth skill setup for characters with only ONE fixed skill and a choosable one?

I love playing this game, but I'm kind of tired of mostly being offered a spear or the double swords. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

I think one of the recent updates has the skill drop chances updated. and made certain items more rare. I also have the feeling that different characters might have different drop probabilities, like katana is high on shadow, gun on wanderer etc.
Then on the other hand I do think spear and double swords are pretty strong weapons

Agreed that they are strong weapons, but what I would hope for is varied runs. What's the point in having more weapons if it's a 1% chance that you will get them. You will barely play with them. I just played with Kunai. First time in maybe... 15 runs? Have not seen the shotgun (Tanegashima?) since... 30 runs?

I hope this should change. Here are a few suggestions
- Add a different mod (without steam and in-game achievements).
- Add skills bans and or chance boosters. Maybe pay skulls for them?
- Add third character build option with one set weapon and one random weapon.
- Add fourth character build option with one set weapon and one purchable weapon (with skulls).
- Give three options for weapons and skills. Maybe pay for it with skulls.

I like the idea of using skulls to buy slots for removing a tile out of the pool. Each additional slot being exponentially more expensive. This is still abusable, but can be made very expensive as a skull sink.
