Why is my tackling so poor?
I'm refering to tackling the lone guy who's running at speed, usually the fastest player the opposition has.

Do I need to be a set distance from the attacker before pressing the normal/hard tackle buttons?
Do I need to be running at them?
Do I need to stop running fast [right shoulder button] before tackling?

Often I end up in the floor as the tackled guy sails by to score.

My technique now is to let the computer tackle, controlling the fullback as the last man in defence but the AI is dumb and I feel less involved in the game this way?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated as it's starting to annoy me and put me off the game a little?

I'm not sure and it annoys me too. I do know that stopping is a bad idea, Pace in the tackle is important.I always try to tackle from the side as the FB. I find head on tends to fail.....Mike Catt style.

Ye heads on is worst. Maybe the tackle needs to be initialted earlier when heads on. I'll try out some timings when I get a chance.

Well the only conslusions I have are:
1. Best to press and hold the tackle button.
2. Best to do a hard tackle unless your timing is very poor when you might high tackle (and even then it's better than missing the guy and giving away 7 points)
3. Always easier to tackle from the side, especially if the opposing player is nearer the side line where they cut inside much less.
4. For me better to let the computer tackle first and control the fullback as a last resort.

It must be all in the timing/direction so I guess I just need to improve that.

I've been trying things out too. I've been changing to the FB on purpose to practice and basically it seems like speed and hard tackle are the key. I think front on is ok but side on is easier because of the camera angle. And, as always, the sideline is your friend.

Agreed
Some players are OP in the game and they evade most tackles but my advice is charge them down faster than the player is running and your momentum should make the tackle with normal tackle if not next time try agressive at speed :) hope this helps dude
also its better if you tackle from the side as they go off balance easier.
