This isn't a castlevania-like. It's a Capcom/Treasure/Taito-like. Stop confusing its visual design for its gameplay design...People act like 5 series of games exist when there used to be hundreds of platform games. Castlevania wasn't even remotely the most popular thing
Hmm, it'd probably be useful if you can point out elements of the game you like and want to see in other games.
In terms of this game's exact package, it is quite unique and there won't really be much that is too similar.
what aspects of this game did you like? if you liked the gameplay, as mentioned earlier, bloodstained:curse of the moon made by the same devs is a very similar series, but less cutesy and pervy.
if you like the pervy part of it, you can go full perve with midnight castle succubus or castle in the clouds.
if you like the anime part of it, there's record of the lodoss war-deedlit in wonder labyrinth. more of a metroidvania though.
if you just like the dark atmosphere of it, there's also bloodstained: ritual of the night and the castlevania collections.
"but elderrand is! it's definitely an apple, the most apple of apples to ever apple"
It's the fact you're recommending it because it's a Metroidvania rather than because it's like this game (which isn't a Metroidvania)
I can't think of too many games exactly like this beyond Curse of the Moon (which obviously you should play immediately if you liked this) and Rondo of Blood (again, play this). Maybe throw Order of Ecclesia in since it has less Metroidvania BS than other contemporary Castlevania games and is pretty fun
Mega Man Zero series is legendary and uh... you can shoot and use a sword in it, just like this game! And you can go back to levels and find upgrades! See, it's basically the same thing. e: also Grim Guardians includes the feature where slashing attacks cause enemies to get cut in half for their death animation, something that MMZ pioneered
Stretching it a bit more I remember Cyber Shadow a couple years back satisfying me very well despite a couple of issues, it does linear levels with some side routes for unlockables and has a good level of challenge with solid level design for the most part
Also it's not like this game at all besides being a 2D platformer but play Gunvolt 3 because it pwns, simple as
This game wasn't bad, kind of bland though and I'd definitely recommend their Touhou game over it, personally
