On the second game an extremely stupid demon girl that plays pranks is introduced, the school being transformed into a castle overrun by demons in this game is her latest "prank".
The girls are basically just stand ins for a bit of cross promo. More of a cameo than anything.
The leads of this game are the heronies of Gal*Gun Double Peace. That's the game to play if you want to know where the characters were established
It is castelvaina with a few gal gun references for fans of the series, but nothing really critical. There's a reason gal gun is never actually mentioned on the store page. It's disconnected enough to the point where if you replaced the references you'd never know it was related at all.
IntiCreates has been building this universe since near the beginning.
*fourth game. Don't forget about Gal*Gun VR
Also definitely play Returns first and not Double Peace is my advice, it's more fun and the girls are better (sorry Shinobu and Maya)
edit: talking of Returns where's my best girl Patako at
I don't count Gal*Gun VR because it's just an early build of 2 without the story. They released it on Steam after Sony told them mid-development that the game couldn't have VR support on their platform.
That's fair enough justification, also I did not know that fact. Does Gal*Gun 2 not have any VR support on Playstation? Lmfao that's awful, especially given how obviously the game is designed for it
Bloodstained Curse of the Moon has a Gunvolt reference in one of its endings implying that Gunvolt is in the distant future, Gal Gun has connections to Gunvolt with Copen being a Kamizono descendant and Nori being Kurona, wouldn't be surprised if Dragon Marked for Death is also somehow connected to Gunvolt with its Sumeragi sword unlockable and the Dragon connection with Gunvolt 3 (but thats stretching it at the end but who knows). Blaster Master Zero has also connected with Gunvolt iX2 where a character there travels dimensions to fight with Copen in a DLC boss and Copen is given his blaster rifle in the main story itself.
